Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Replacement Icemaker (Part Number: OEM12405033)

Hello Bob. To test the water valve for the icemaker, you will trace the fill tube for the icemaker to the water valve. Then cycle the icemaker and test for power coming to the water valve W10408179. If there is power there, and no water, and the fill tube is not frozen, you will replace the water valve on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Jhun, If you replaced the ice maker already, you need to check for sufficient water pressure. If a water line has become crimped, or the shut off has been partially closed, this could cause the issue. You see, the water inlet valve is closed by water pressure only. The valve has no spring to aid in its' closure. If sufficient water pressure is present, the only other thing that could cause the complaint is the contacts in the ice maker sticking. If this is the case, the ice maker assembly D7824706Q will require replacement.

John, The ice maker you installed is a "replacement only" ice maker. So you replaced an existing ice maker, and it should have been a straight across "change out". If you are installing an "Add On" icemaker you may have the wrong part. We'll send you some of the basic installation information that may be helpful. Thanks

Hello Brian, The ice maker should stop at the end of the cycle, (as you know). The cycling thermostat or the motor module in the ice maker has to be at fault. If the thermostat is internally shorted, it will cause the ice maker D7824706Q to continually cycle. If the motor module has a set of contacts that are stuck, it will cause the same thing. In any case, due to parts availability, the complete ice maker assembly will require replacement.

Hello John, First, make sure there is voltage to the ice maker. If there is no voltage to it, it can be in the middle of a cycle and the bale arm cannot be raised to turn it off. If there is voltage to it, the ice maker 4317943 or the control module W10190935 will have to be replaced.

George, To test the ice maker for power you will need a multi meter TJMA-DMT3, Remove the white plastic cover on the front of the ice maker and insert the meter probes into the "L" and "N" openings in the front control module, you should have a reading of 110- 120 VAC. If you have the voltage, then you want to go with the ice maker kit 4317943 If not check the harness along the side of the assembly to see if it got damaged when you heated the ice maker. Here's some meter usage information should you need it [http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html] Good Luck
