Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Replacement Icemaker (Part Number: OEM12405033)

Hello Bob. If you remove the cover of the icemaker there is an adjustment screw on the side of the module. If you turn this screw clockwise, the unit lets in less water, which means smaller cubes. A little of a turn is alot in the process. Adjust it until you are happy with the cube size. Hope this helps.

Ordered this Icemaker because it looked identical to the one on our Kitchen Aid. I had to take the old icemaker out because the heater on the tray would not turn off, and this was causing the freezers temperature to rise. On installation of the new icemaker came to find that the old wire harness is hard wired into the back of the freezer, and that the sensor on the old wire harness is in a different position than the clip on the new icemaker. Is there a different part I need or is it the case I need a technician to come out and look at it?

Walter, the easiest remedy at this point, use the original wire harness, Remove the white plastic front cover, turn the icemaker on it's side, so you can access the harness, where it enters the control module. Press in on the white plastic clip, with a small blade screw driver and pull out on the complete harness. Insert the harness and push in until the plastic clip snaps into place, and complete the repair. Thanks, and Good Luck.

Hi Walter. The Ice maker needed for your model # is part # 4317943. The 3 wiring harness included inyour new kit should fit by simply pulling the molded end of the origional harness from the side of the inner cabinet. The "sensor" you asked about is a black molded fuse. Then find out which new harness will fit into the freezer wall by looking at your old plug and count the number of pin connections your cabinet has. You can try to use your existing harness if all else fails, but make sure the line fuse (black molded fuse) ohms closed. I hope this helps, let us know if we can help further. Thank-you.

Hello Cecil! Have you tried dispensing at least 2 qts continously through the dispenser after changing the filter? If an air pocket is in the line it can cause the dispenser to leak. If this does not correct the issue, you may have a defective inlet valve. Your part number is 2206123. Thanks!

Hello Jackie, please make sure the fill tube WP61005940 has not frozen over and does not drip over into the tray. The original icemaker for this unit should only make 8 cubes at a time, your water valve WP61005273 might be defective and over filling the icemaker. Hope this helps!

I contacted your website and followed questions that showed the symptoms of our ice maker. It would not completely stop filling after a cycle and then it would freeze and build up in the ice holding tray. I ordered and replaced the valve inlet on this Maytag refrigerator but the water still continues a bit after the ice tray is full and then freezes in the holding bin. Now what? Could it be a defective valve inlet or could it be something in the ice maker itself? The Maytag number for the ice maker kit is UKI1000AXX. Please help. Thanks.

Hello Mary! If the ice maker is not filling with water check the fill tube to make sure it has not frozen over. If the line is ok, you may need to replace the inlet valve WP2315576. Thanks.
