Rv May 26, 2020 for Model Number MVWC400XW1 The tub bangs against the metal housing during spin cycle. I have replaced suspension rods and it does it less, but not gone completely. It doesn't have any tub centering springs.
1 Answer Hello, RV. The correct p/n for the suspension rods is AP5971399. I'd recommend you to install the tub centering springs p/n AP5263280, and also to check the condition of the drive belt at the bottom of the washer p/n AP6014712. Make sure the washer is sitting on the hard surface and is leveled. Thank you. Read More...
Candi March 21, 2020 for Model Number 110.20022012 Is there centering springs in this washer. I have already replaced the sespenion rods.
1 Answer Candi, the model number provided does not use centering springs. If there is excessive vibration, the level of the washer will need to be checked and corrected as necessary. From there, the counterbalance ring in the basket W10349185 will need to be inspected to ensure that there is fluid in it (can be tested by spinning the basket by hand and then quickly stopping the rotation and there should be a sound of fluid sloshing). If this checks good, the next test would be placing a cup of water on the dryer (dryer can not touch the washer) and starting a spin cycle while the washer is empty. If the vibrations transfer to where the cup is vibrating, the floor may be the cause for the excessive vibration as there should be very little to no vibration transfer. Read More...
Nikki March 01, 2020 for Model Number Wtw4800xq4 I'm replacing suspension rods & tub ring... it's suggested you also replace centering springs. What is compatible with my washer? I don't want to order the wrong model part.
1 Answer Nikki, based on the model provided, there would not be centering springs used. Manufacturers may eliminate a part in newer series appliances that were used in older ones because of design changes that make the eliminated part unnecessary. Read More...

Jim February 18, 2020 for Model Number Ntw4600yq0 A small load machine is banging the sides. Suspension rods are not bent and are in place. No errors, recalibrated, still banging the sides of the machine. Thanks
1 Answer Jim, This issue would most likely be the rods even though they are not bent and are in place. The springs on the rods could become weak and cause the banging. Read More...
John January 19, 2020 for Model Number LAT8904AAE Our washing machine began to shake strongly during the spin cycle. It's 25 yrs old, but I wanted to fix if possible. I took it apart and replaced the snubber pads. The 3 centering springs appeared to be in pretty good condition. That part, WP22001300 is discontinued, so I was not able to obtain new ones in a reasonable amount of time. Instead I tightened them an extra single revolution of the bolt nuts. I re-assembled the machine, leveled it and started it up. The shaking was significantly reduced, but there is still modest shaking. The wash room is one that was intended for a washer and dryer, and for 15 years here it's been fine. There are 3 or 4 things that I think could help, or be an issues, so 3 questions: 1) Is it ok to tighten the centering springs more? I have no idea at what point I might overstress them. 2) How level is level? If I'm within the two black lines that are on every level, is that good enough? 3) There was what looked like evidence of past water damage when I replaced the flooring in that room recently... but it could have been from the previous owner. I decided to get one of those plastic water containment trays to put under the washer, just in case. I put slider pads under it so I can easily manuever the washer around the floor when I want. Could that be causing my problem? I realize that if there was water damage it could have been worse than I think, and the entire floor may need reinforcement, though I think I'd need an expert to assess that. Anyways, appreciate your thoughts, thank you!
1 Answer Hello John, I would not tighten the tub springs any further. Check that the inner tub is still centered in the outer tub. Other then that watch for plastic-type drain pains in that if it has ridges in the bottom and the washer's legs are resting on then they can cause the washer cabinet to rock. If it is practical you can try moving the washer to a solid floor area and run just an empty tub in a spin cycle as a countercheck if its a flooring problem. As long as the washer is close to level that is ok. Read More...

Harold November 07, 2019 for Model Number 110.20022012 Washer shakes real bad in spin, I have read about the centering springs and suspension rods in your reviews. Although I haven't looked at them yet, I have another problem that maybe you have heard about. During the wash cycle, anything that has any length winds tightly around the agitator and when the spin cycle occurs, that item retains water and has to be unwound and spun again. Any ideas?
1 Answer Harold, the selections used in comparison to the types of laundry being washed at the time can cause this issue. However, it is also possible that the excessive vibrations can cause the washer to be out of calibration tolerances and cause this as well. The washer shaking will certainly need to be addressed, then the unit will need to be placed into a calibration mode to ensure that the washer is able to properly function within the tolerances of a calibration.
