Phil B. for Model Number 10674902401 Kenmore Elite Type 19TFA I have a Kenmore Elite model 10674902401 first the compressor was not kicking on, I unplugged it for a hour, plugged it back in, I heard 1 click noise about every 45 sec, then the compressor started working, its nice and cold, but the compressor wont shut off. How long should the compressor run before shutting off? Could it be the relay switch, the run capacitor, or the thermostat.
Answer Hello Phil. The compressor shuts off when the desired temperature is reached inside the unit. You can try turning the temperature down slowly and see if it shuts off before you reach the off position. If so, then the thermistor should be good. If not, and the unit is the proper temperature, you will need to test the thermistor WP2188820. Thermistor Temperature Resistance 77°F..................10,000 ohms 36°F..................29,500 ohms 0°F....................86,300 ohms If the thermisot is good, you will need to replace the control board 8201735. As for the clicking, it sounds like the compressor may be going bad on the unit. It seems the unit is building up pressure and is not equalizing properly. If the unit continues to try to start and then finally does, you will need to replace the compressor W10309988. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
