Donna December 19, 2017 for Model Number LAT8506AAE The washer will fill. But to get it to move to next cycle you can move the belt and it works but the next cycle you have to move the bell the other way. We replaced the belts and the lid switch. A repair man told me that I need a new motor but i do not think He but I could not buy the the switch any more but he is wrong the motor comes with the part on top that he was calling a switch. Any suggestions other than go buy a new washer? He told me the motor tested good but it was weak! I think it could be the timer?
1 Answer Donna, The start switch has been discontinued as a separate part but you could get the motor 12002353 to correct this. Read More...
Jen September 11, 2017 for Model Number LAT9334AAE While I can still hear the timer ticking, nothing is happening. It doesn't matter which position in the cycle(s) I select, still a faint ticking, but nothing else. Would this be the timer? Or another part?
1 Answer Jen, If the water fills but will not do anything else then check the lid switch to make sure that it is good. If this checks ok then you will want to check the motor to make sure that it is getting power to it. If it does then the motor would be the issue. Read More...
Gary June 03, 2016 for Model Number LAT8214ABE My washer fills and agitates but will not empty or spin. Is this a timer problem? Where can I purchase a new or refurbished timer (preferably refurbished) if this is a timer problem? My washer is fairly old.
1 Answer Hello Gary, This is most likely a drain issue. Check to see if the belt 12112425 is off and turn the pulley to see if the drain pump WP6-2022030 is hard to turn. Read More...
Cheryl T May 08, 2015 for Model Number LAT8104AAE Machine starts, fills with water, then I hear the timer ticking as it advances but no agitation, no emptying, no rinse cylce. As the knob gets closer to the cycle being finished, I can push the knob in and slightly advance it so it will drain. Is this a timer issue?
1 Answer Cheryl, You will want to check the motor to make sure that it is getting power from the timer. If the motor is not getting power then check the lid switch and if the lid switch checks ok then the timer would be the issue. Read More...
Bret C. May 09, 2014 for Model Number Maytag Washer LAT8504AAL Sometimes the wash cycle will stop and the tub is still full of water. We will advance the time slightly and get to the next cycle, the drain cycle, to drain the tub and spin. Is it the timer or something like a drain pump? Thanks! Bret
1 Answer Bret, It may not be either of those parts. Your first check should be at the lid switch assembly WP22001682 or the lid if the assembly is out of adjustment or if one of the switches is faulty, the washer won't spin and drain. Check there first, if all's OK then replace the timer WP22001025. Read More...
Ryland March 31, 2014 for Model Number Maytag LAT8104AAE The washer will only start agitating after filling if I pull hard and hold the timer for a few seconds to a few minutes. It will continue along in the cycle and randomly stop. When I go pull on the timer again, it will start back up but I always have to hold it for 30 seconds or so. When I let go, the washer stops. It's getting more and more frequent that it stop -- at first it was just in the agitation section and now it's in the spin cycle too. Does this sound like the timer is the problem?
1 Answer Hello Rich. We will need your model number to help you with this. Please call 1-877-477-7278 or post your model number with a new question on the parts page. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx Read More...
Ml January 04, 2013 for Model Number LAT3914AAE Sometimes the machine will stop in the middle of the cycle, sit there and will eventually start again. On the delicate cycle it has been known to not stop until I manually stop it. Lately it has been going through the cycle completely but it does not empty the water. I can manually move it to the spin portion and it works fine. Is this a timer problem or something else?
1 Answer Hello, the timer WP22001025 would be the main cause of the issues you are describing. Thanks! Read More...

Jeff June 20, 2012 for Model Number maytag lat8014aae washer will spin and drain will not agitate.Pulled the transmission cover and its fine. Do you sell the oil for the transmission or can you use automotive type gear oil? I am guessing the timer is bad how do I do a pinpoint test on it? Or just order the timer and send it back if that doesn't fix it? the washer is 21 years old so I am not going to invest a whole lot of $$$ in it.
1 Answer Jeff, The part number for the gear oil is 6-0560800 Based on your post, the issue would be in the timer WP22001025, if the motor operates in one direction, it's 99%, the motor is not the issue. Basically To pin point the issue in the timer you'd unplug the power cord, set the timer dial to a wash cycle, pull out the knob and disconnect the multi plug connector. Then you'd check for closed circuits between the contacts on the timer based on the wiring diagram and timer cam or cycle chart. But first, have you checked the lid switches and fuse. Yes, if the timer does not solve the issue, you can return the part for a refund, but you'll be responsible for the return shipping. Thanks Read More...
