Lee April 08, 2020 for Model Number LAT9605AAE I have a Maytag washer that the water won't fill into the tub. I've replaced the water inlet valve and the water level switch with no luck. I've been told that I may possibly need a new timer as the one shown here. The washer works if I fill the tub manually with water on the wash and spin cycles but stops on the rinse cycle. Any help is greatly appreciated. The Model number is LAT9605AAE Serial Number is A0664196MB Thanks!
1 Answer Lee, your first check needs to be the WP22001682 / WP22001682 lid switch assembly. If a switch fails, or the fuse "blows" this breaks the circuit to the fill valve, and the washer won't fill and agitate, but it will spin and drain. If the switch assembly and wiring are OK, then replace the timer WP22001026/22001026. Read More...
Jim January 01, 2019 for Model Number LAT9604AAL Purchased a new timer, motor spring kit and 2 new belts from your company for my Maytag washer and everything worked fine for about 2 weeks, now motor only hums when it calls for agitation but will spin water out just fine. I've checked the lid switch and it's okay. Your help would be greatly appreciated on why you think it will not agitate. Thanks, Jim.
1 Answer Jim, There's about a 1 or 2% possibility that the motor could be the issue, since the washer motor will run in the spin direction, it should run in the agitate direction. The first check should be at the timer, remove the wiring harness block and check the small brass contact terminals, to see if there are any that are bent, twisted, etc. then check the individual wires in the wiring block to make sure they aren't loose, twisted, bent, etc. You might want to use a small flat blade screwdriver and press down/in on each wire, once the harness block is installed and locked in place, to make sure the wires are seated and making proper contact with the terminals. Gp September 24, 2017 for Model Number LAT9614AAE My Maytag washer, like some other people with questions, only works properly on the delicate cycle and only fills with water on the other cycles. Unlike others however I can sometimes get the permanent press rinse and spin functions to work if I manually move the timer dial...but not always. Furthermore I can not get it to agitate at all on either regular or permanent press. (So basically no agitate, rinse, and spin on normal and no agitate, sometimes manually rinse, and sometimes manually spin on permanent press). Is the timer bad or the motor?
1 Answer Gp, With the unit working on some cycles but not others then this would most likely be an issue with the timer of the unit. Read More...
Karen August 24, 2017 for Model Number LAT9614AAE My washing machine from 1994 stopped working after the tub would fill with water. I replaced the Lid Switch assembly and Timer and I am still having problems. The Timer is making noises and will not advance. I can manually advance the timer to the next setting to finish the load. All functions work fine as long as I manually advance the timer. The new timer is making noises the old timer did not. Both timers would not advance? What do you suggest I do now. I bought both parts from you.
1 Answer Hello Karen. You will need to check your wiring going to the timer and see if it is bad. If so, it will prevent the timer from turning. It sounds like there is no power getting to the timer motor. Thanks. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Dave T November 02, 2015 for Model Number lat4804aae Hi,my washer starts and stops on wash cycle, do I need a new timer. Thanks
1 Answer Dave, The timer would not be the most likely cause for this issue and would be more likely that the motor is overheating causing the unit to shut off. Look for something causing a strain on the motor. Read More...
Margie August 21, 2014 for Model Number LAT9604AAE My washer has stopped agitating and spinning on all but the delicate cycle. I have looked at the parts list and it shows 2 parts: 22001026; & 22001515. Does my washer have both parts? Your video for the 22001026 looks very easy to fix, but I don't see one for 22001515. Are they the same part for different year modles? Or do I need both parts?
1 Answer Margie, The WP22001026 is the only part you will need to replace the timer. The 22001515 Timer Motor, is a component that is already installed on the new replacement timer. The timer motor 22001515 has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available as a repair part. Read More...
Adam March 10, 2014 for Model Number lat9605aae my maytag washer lat9605aae on Permanent press and normal settings only fills with water but then won't agitate or spin. The gentle cycle works fine though. I tried checking the black and yellow wires during the regular cycle and it shows electricity coming through on the regular cycle including agitation. Does this prove that it is the motor vs the timer? Or is there some other test I can do to prove one of the other? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Adam, You need to check from the "M" terminal on the motor, (where the Yellow wire connects), to the terminal that the Orange wire connects to while the power is off and you are manually activating the switch on the motor. This will show you the resistance of the slow speed windings of the motor. If it gives you a resistance reading, the timer WP22001026 is the problem. If not, the motor 12002353 is the issue. Bill November 16, 2013 for Model Number LAT8434AAE My washer will not fill with water on any cycle. I am able to get the spin cycle to work only. I did replace the timer about threes yards ago. Does this sound like the timer needs to be replaced again? Thank you for your assistance, Bill
1 Answer Hello Bill. No, you need to check the lid switch WP22001682 in the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
