Tim February 18, 2013 for Model Number 11023822100 I have a washer that will wash clothes properly with the exception of the spin cycle. It will not do the spin cycle unless I manually spin the knob back to the spin cycle. Once I manually put it to the spin cycle it works fine for the rest of the wash. Could this be a timer issue?
1 Answer Hello Tim. Yes, based on the information you provided, the timer WP661649 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Al February 07, 2013 for Model Number 110.23832100 I have a Kenmore 80 that will fill with water, but will not wash or move. When it is on all it does is makes a buzzing noise. Is this a timer issue?
1 Answer Hello Al, You will want to check the motor coupling to make sure that it has not broken. A broken motor coupling 285753A will allow fill and drain but no agitate or spin. Read More...
Charles B. June 08, 2012 for Model Number 110.23832100 I have a Kenmore series 80: 110.23832100 washer that fills with water, then agitates until it gets to the rinse cycle then it stops. The agitator turns on all rinse cycles if you manually operate the timer to those positions. You can manually move the timer to the spin cycles & nothing happens (agitator will not run). Do you think this could be a timer problem?
1 Answer Hello Charles, Of course it could be a timer issue, but without troubleshooting the unit, this would be a guess. I would first check the cold water inlet valve. You see, the unit fills with warm water on fill before the wash cycle. If the cold valve isn't working, it would still fill. When you get to the rinse cycle, the unit will fill with cold water only. If this is the case and the cold valve is bad, it will effectively stop at this point. In light of this information, you should check to make sure the cold water valve hasn't been turned off, check for screens in the water supply hoses and clean if necessary, and check the screens in the water valve itself. Tim May 26, 2012 for Model Number kenmore 70 series mfg. 7-01 The washer does nothing when you turn it on. It won't even start to fill. It will fill and agitate and spin on rinse cycle. It does this on all three cleaning cycles. Could this be a timer issue?
1 Answer Hello Tim, This sounds like it is the timer. The contacts used in the timer for these operations are common from one cycle to the next. I would check the electrical connections to the pressure switch and timer, (just because sometimes you can get lucky and solve an issue with a connection correction). Read More...
Alex April 17, 2012 for Model Number Kenmore 110.23832100 Top Load Washer (Series 80) The washer will step through the entire cycle, but it will not drain or rinse, (seems to stay stuck in agitate mode), unless we manually stop the cycle at the right time by pushing in the main cycle select knob and then pull it out to restart. It then proceeds correctly. If we let it go, it will finish with sudsy water in the tub. Tried it on a couple of the settings (Ultra Clean, Perm Press) with same results. So, bottom line is that the washer can operate in all modes (fill aagitate, drain rinse fill, spin, etc.) but not automatically as expected. Already replaced the lid switch (just to be sure). Is this a timer or control board issue? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Alex, This sounds like the timer WP661649. I can think of nothing else other than the contacts in the timer sticking that would cause this symptom. Read More...
Jayne April 04, 2012 for Model Number 110.23832100 Washer fills and will start the cycle, but the knob will not turn, it just keeps washing without moving from cycle to cycle. The knob just spins when I turn it left to right. If I push in the knob, I can change the cycle, then I have to set a timer to go and move to next cycle. Timer bad?
1 Answer Hello Jayne. Yes, based on the information you provided, it sounds like the timer WP661649 is bad and will need to be replaced. Test and see if there is power coming to the timer motor across the two black wires. If so, and the motor does not turn the timer, replace the timer. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Vcoldduck January 19, 2012 for Model Number 11023812100 I asked a question on 1/18/11 and a bad timer #3131136 was said to be the problem. AP3131136 turned out to be the wrong timer which we are returning today for the proper one which has 2 harnesses. How do I know what position the knob go's in? And how does the knob come off. I'm asking this now so I'm not in trouble tomorrow. Do's the shaft of the timer have a flat spot or something?
1 Answer Hello Vcoldduck. Yes, there are flat groves cut into the timer shace for the proper locating of the timers dial. The knob WP3948416 for the timer unscres off the timers shaft. Hope this helps. Read More...

Kg October 12, 2011 for Model Number 110.23832100 HI Again. The pump works at every other point. It is like the machine is not telling the pump to turn on. Is the timer what tells the washing machine what it is supposed to do? Wash/rinse/spin ext?
1 Answer Hello KG. No, the timer turns on the motor and the motor turns the pump. If the unit is skipping cycles, then it could be a bad timer WP661649. Hope this helps. Read More...
