Causes of a malfunctioning washer drain pump assembly can include blockages from small items or debris, such as coins, socks, or lint, that accidentally make their way into the pump.

Symptoms of a bad Washer Drain Pump Assembly include:

  • Water not draining out of the washer, leaving clothes wet
  • Unusual noises coming from the pump area, indicating a blockage or damage
  • The washer stopping mid-cycle due to inability to drain
  • Error codes displayed on the washer related to draining issues

This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Hello Randy, Dis-continue the power to the unit. Remove the access panel from the front bottom of the unit. Reach inside and remove the hoses from the water pump. If debris is present, remove it and check the impeller on the pump motor. If debris got against it during drain at any point, the drain pump impeller can cause the pump impeller to remove itself from the pump shaft.
