Refrigerator Evaporator

This evaporator assembly circulates refrigerant and helps remove heat and humidity from the freezer compartment, restoring proper cold and frost control. Replaces the internal evaporator box to improve cooling performance and defrost function. What it does:

• Houses the evaporator coil to allow refrigerant evaporation and heat exchange
• Enables proper cold airflow and consistent freezer temperatures
• Supports the defrost cycle by routing meltwater to the drain system
• Commonly replaced for frost buildup, weak cooling, or abnormal freezer temperatures

• One evaporator assembly (evaporator box) as shown

• Requires access to the freezer interior; disconnect power before starting
• May require removal of shelving, panels, and the evaporator cover for access
• Follow OEM instructions for proper refrigerant and wiring handling; replace any damaged gaskets or seals

This evaporator assembly replaces the frozen-evaporator module that circulates cold air in the freezer compartment to maintain proper temperatures and defrost cycles. Restores efficient cold transfer and helps prevent frost buildup. What it does:

• Contains the freezer evaporator coil and associated evaporator components that absorb heat from the freezer interior
• Supports normal defrosting to prevent excessive ice accumulation on the coil
• When faulty, may be associated with reduced freezer cooling, visible frost/ice on the coil, or longer-than-normal run cycles
• Works with the freezer air system to help maintain stable compartment temperatures

• Disconnect power before service to avoid electrical shock
• Allow the freezer to fully defrost and drain before removing the old evaporator to limit water/ice mess
• Handle fins and tubing carefully to avoid bending or puncturing the coil
• May require panel removal or disconnecting refrigerant-related fittings;

This evaporator assembly with integrated defrost heater removes heat from the freezer compartment and helps prevent frost buildup for reliable cooling performance. It replaces a failed coil/heater assembly to restore normal defrost cycles and temperature control. What it does:

• Circulates refrigerant through the evaporator coil to absorb heat from the freezer compartment.
• Heats the coil during defrost cycles to melt accumulated frost and ice.
• Helps resolve symptoms like frost buildup on the evaporator, poor cooling or warm freezer temperatures, and frequent compressor cycling.
• Works as the core refrigeration coil tied to the refrigerator's defrost system.

• Disconnect power before servicing to avoid shock or injury.
• Replacing this part may require accessing sealed refrigerant lines; do not open refrigerant system unless qualified and certified.
• Handle the evaporator coil and fins carefully to avoid damage; wear gloves to protect from sharp edges.
