I was buying a part for my other refrigerator and decided to replace the ice tray on my LG, as it was not emptying properly. When I found the part, I also saw a video attached to the ice dispenser parts. I had taped over the ice dispenser years ago and would just open the freezer for ice. Replaced the defrost heater, Temp sensor, and defrost thermostat. I'm pretty sure the defrost heater was the only faulty part, but I replaced the other parts to be safe. Took me about 20 minutes start to finish. I know the defrost heater was bad because it failed the continuity test. Parts were delivered within 3 days! I replaced the evap fan motor assembly after thawing out the evaporator. I replaced the evap motor assembly because i damaged it while defrosting the evaporator. Too much heat warped the fan blade and bracket. I replaced the motor because of the abnormal load it was put under when it was making all the noise from trying to spin through the ice buildup on the evaporator. Order and received hinges and the parts for the doors that were lost. After plugging it in the open door chimes started and would not stop. I call appliance Parts customer service and tech Dept. They were very patient and helpful with my ordering the parts I needed and tried to get the chimes to stop. The People I talked to were very helpful and patient in trying to fix this problem. After reading stories on this website I decided the problem was probably the control board. I ordered the sensors also just in case. The display has been dim for awhile so I got that also. I replaced the board and the display in less than an hour. It is working perfectly now so I never installed the sensors. I believe the board was ruined by a recent power outage. We attempted to reassemble the dispenser. At the time we did realize how simple it was to remove the cover. We checked Appliancepartspros.com and found the Water Dispenser Cover Assembly. Once we saw the part and understood how the cover was in place, we used a thin, flat, trowel to gently get under the cover to pry it loose. We then just snapped the new cover in place.
