Remove upper and lower baskets for access. Remove 4 Torx screws holding drain/filter assembly, accessing last screw by rotating the water duct clockwise. Be sure to first un-clip the water duct at top and rear of dishwasher so that it can be moved. (Take the opportunity to remove accumulated deposits behind the water duct). Remove the drain/filter assembly and then remove the single screw holding the food chopper housing. Then remove the chopper assembly which is likely to be in pieces if it...

Leaking from the bottom of the tub door Joseph P. • Palmyra , PA • April 10, 2015
The dishwasher is 4 years old, so I figured since it was leaking from the bottom, replacing the Tub Gasket PN: AP5690109, Splash Shield Kit PN: AP4338941 , and the bottom Door Seal/Gasket PN: AP5809675 was a good idea; the machine probably has around 1200 cycles in 4 years. There's no telling how much the door had opened and closed!? The bottom Door Seal/Gasket was badly worn, and the entire job took me around 30 minutes which included the detailed cleaning of the mating flanges. Take your...

Repeated failure of the pump/drain system which was usually preceded by a "buzzing/grinding" noise culminating in a failure to drain Lawrence R. • Parma , OH • June 04, 2017
I had previously disassemble the pump assembly to find what I at first thought was an oddly shaped spring, which it was. What I learned by researching the parts was that the spring's odd shape was a result of something having gotten caught in the pump and jamming the impeller.
After ordering the parts, I watched the "repair video" a few time and proceeded to remove and replaced the affected parts. Reassembly went pretty much as described with the one small glitch being the seating of the new...

Would not clean dishes Aaron H. • Saint James , MO • March 16, 2015
My dishwasher quit cleaning dishes and lost all pressure. The food screen would keep clogging up and I would have to take it out and clean it by hand. After putting a new impeller in, the "gears" on the impeller connected with the screen blades, the old impeller the "gears" were stripped off. And the new impeller comes with new seals, after taking old one out I noticed it wasn't long before my old seals would have started leaking. Very simple repair if you watch the great video that...

Maytag dishwasher was not cleaning dishes on the top racks Travis B. • Whiteland , IN • December 14, 2025
I started by removing and cleaning the sump filter and drain adapter at the bottom of the tub. The manual said nothing about these filters, but they were almost completely clogged after 5 years of use and no cleaning. After reassembling with the cleaned filters, the problem persisted. I did some more research and found others said the food chopper had disintegrated and caused the same issue with the top rack not getting cleaned. I then pulled the dishwasher out and tipped it on its door to...

No water circulating Nikolette K. • Saint Louis , MO • June 09, 2015
Motor shaft was stripped, replaced with new shaft from Motor Seal Kit. Impeller was also cracked, so replaced it as well.
I did run in to a small problem, the chopper blade was pressing against the metal grate on the piece that goes back over the motor seal. I spent about an hour messing with it, but thought maybe once it's all together it'll be fine.
When you screw the impeller on, it pushes down the seals, which pushes down the chopper blade.
Video on Motor Seal Kit page made it an...

Would not drain with flashing quick light Kevin N. • Lake Worth , FL • June 21, 2018
Since my Samsung Dishwasher would not drain and had a flashing quick light, I removed the racks and both spray wands. Which allowed me to remove the lower screen assembly. This revealed a worn and broken check valve and broken grinder blade.
I cleaned the inside of the dishwasher and removed the unit from under the counter. I removed and cleaned the brake assembly ( large transparent plastic section on left side of the dishwasher). I cleaned this for preventive maintenance by taking the float...

My lg lds5540st was squealing during the wash cycle David D. • Alabaster , AL • April 21, 2017
I replaced the dishwasher circulation motor. I also replaced the impeller assembly, although it turns out that was not necessary. Actually replacing the motor was straightforward: Remove the upper and lower racks. Turn off the breaker and water supply. Disconnect power, supply water and drain hose. Slide out the dishwasher. Inside the dishwasher, unscrew the two screws holding on the bottom rotating sprayer and remove the sprayer, unscrew the one screw holding the little metal bracket and...

Spray arm was burning on the sides Ruchik S. • Bronx , NY • October 17, 2014
The diffuser has something like a fan underneath that had gone separate from the body. The fan arms were chipped underneath. I thought that might have lead the spray arm to tilt and brush the heat coil, leading to melting on the sides.
So, I changed the Diffuser & Lower Spray Arm. I think now the spray arm is parallel and staying above the heat coil. Hopefully it stays that way!
