Microwave blew line fuse Gerald G. • St. Louis , MO • August 05, 2019
It took a long time to determine the problem but eventually I discovered that the plastic bracket (latch hook) that held the three door-switches showed appreciable wear from repeated door openings and closings. This wear stopped the door from sealing properly and the door switch safety mechanism blew the line fuse. I replaced the worn bracket (AP6230612) as well as the plastic latch mechanism (AP4553585) on the door that engages this bracket (and of course the fuse too) and the microwave now...

The frigidaire microwave would blow fuses on a regular basis Loren A. • Windsor , WI • November 28, 2020
After doing some research the problem appeared to be the door safety switches. I ordered 3 new ones to replace all the original ones. Some minor disassembly of the microwave front was required to reach the fuse and switches. To reach the switches the control panel wires needed to be unplugged and the panel removed. After doing that replacing the switches was pretty strait forward. As of this comment the microwave has worked for 5 days without blowing the fuse so far. This has probably fixed the...

The Latch Hook is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire microwaves. It is an internal component that helps securely latch and lock the microwave door during operation. The latch hook works with the door handle mechanism to ensure the door is properly fastened to prevent leaks of microwave energy and for safety.
Causes of a bad latch hook can include wear and tear over time, damage from repeated use of the door latch, or issues with the latch hook spring or connecting components.
Symptoms of a bad latch hook include:
- The microwave door not closing or latching securely
- Difficulty closing or popping open the door during a cycle
- Leaks of microwave energy from around the door seals
- Error codes related to door-latching problems
This OEM Frigidaire replacement part is also compatible with Electrolux, Westinghouse, and Kelvinator microwaves.

This is a vent damper door used in the microwave's exhaust system. It opens to allow steam and cooking fumes to vent outside and closes to prevent outside air from flowing back in. Replace this part if the damper is stuck open or closed, if you hear rattling from the vent area, or if you notice poor ventilation or backdrafts during cooking.

Re routing microwave exhaust Karissa B. • Brookhaven , GA • October 19, 2015
We bought a house with an over-the-range microwave, which just recirculated air into our house--not effective for smoky meals! We removed the microwave and cut a hole to send the exhaust out the back of the microwave (and out of our house), but realized we were missing this damper and frame that go on the back of the microwave for rear exhaust. The parts fit perfectly and now we can enjoy a smoke-free kitchen!
