I have a Jennair jjw9630cas double wall oven, and after a few years I noticed that the light would not go out, first in the bottom oven, and then in the top oven. After doing some research I discovered this was not uncommon, and the fix usually involved replacing the hinges and/or the hinge receptacles. A bit of research on the internet indicated the most likely problem was with the defrost system. I found the service manual for the refrigerator and was able to determine that the defrost heater and thermostat passed the self test. The refrigerator would perform a forced defrost which resulted in a cold refrigerator. I watched the video on replacing the switch on a side freezer where prying out to original switch did not look difficult. I then got on the floor and tried to pry out my switch. Had a terrible time (locking tab or switch body hardened with time?) and mangled the switch terribly and the upper panel of the freezer somewhat, but the switch did come out. Toughest part of this repair is figuring out how to get things apart. Amana doesn't provide you a repair manual showing how to disengage the various plastic covers. Initially disassembled the bottom freezer compartment so I could get to the evaporator coils; they were completely frozen in block of ice, restricting air flow to the fridge above. The fridge is 20+ years old in a home we recently moved into. It sounded like a motor getting stuck on something or grinding weird... was hoping it wasn't something more serious. Thank you to everyone who entered comments, especially about the "Clicking" sounds when it was trying to turn on the compressor. I did not notice them at first, but then heard them and was confident that one of these parts (or both) had a problem. In my case, I have custom cabinets around the sides of the refrigerator and hardwood floors in the kitchen so I put down some cardboard when the rollers would need to go at an angle due to a center island in the way. Took off the freezer door, took off the top hinge on the refrigerator door, replaced the handle, re-installed the top hinge and the freezer door. This is a two person job - one to remove the top hinge and replace the handle, while a second person holds the refrigerator door in place. Replacing the handle was easy. First, I did online research to find out what could be the problem with these symptoms of cold freezer and warm fridge. I found multiple posts with people going back and forth as far as what to do to fix it. One tread even provided the link to your store with the part number for the evaporator fan motor.
