Water dispenser stopped working. Mark S. • Eliot , ME • January 13, 2021
I watched the Appliance Parts Pros repair video and decided to remove the front panel to diagnose the problem. While the repair video is excellent, I could not remove the ice/water dispenser front panel with a putty knife. On my model, 106.56234400, there is no clip that can be released by sliding a putty knife up under the front panel. It took a little effort but I was able to pop the left lower corner clip just by pulling it out with my fingers. Once the cover was off I could see that the...

Fridge side wasn't staying cold massive ice build up in freezer ice blockage in fan duct Christopher M. • Yorba Linda , CA • December 15, 2014
Condenser was encased in solid block of ice due to automatic defrost not working. Replaced thermostat and ADC control board. Working fine now. Most tedious part was using a heat gun to melt all the ice off the condenser coils.
You will need a couple small wire nuts to splice the new thermostat into the existing harness (they are not included).
Service tech wanted over $400 to repair, fixed it myself for half that. Thanks !

Light switch on bottom freezer compartment flakey (intermittant) Alfred M. • Pahoa , HI • September 07, 2014
I watched the video on replacing the switch on a side freezer where prying out to original switch did not look difficult. I then got on the floor and tried to pry out my switch. Had a terrible time (locking tab or switch body hardened with time?) and mangled the switch terribly and the upper panel of the freezer somewhat, but the switch did come out. AND THEN the top freezer panel with the switch and light assembly fell out into my hands! I was able to unplug one Molex connector and the...

The Drive Shaft Seal is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. It plays a role in preventing water from leaking out of the tub and onto the drive system. This seal ensures that the connection between the drive shaft and the washing machine tub remains watertight, protecting the mechanical components from water damage and corrosion.
Causes of a bad drive shaft seal include aging and deterioration of the material, excessive load sizes that strain the washer, and foreign objects caught between the seal and the shaft, which can lead to tears or breaks.
Symptoms of a bad Drive Shaft Seal include:
- Water leakage from the underside of the washing machine
- Unusual noises during the spin cycle
- A visible tear or damage to the seal itself
- Increased vibration and movement of the machine during operation
This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Ice would not dispense Annie V. • Missouri City , TX • February 23, 2016
My refrigerator was not dispensing ice. I could hear the motor activating but noticed the ice auger was not turning. My old drive shaft was stripped on both ends. Video was very helpful and it was an easy fix for someone with little handyman experience.
Received my order much faster than expected! The parts arrived the next day and paid for the standard shipping charge. I live in Texas.

No ice from a Kenmore (Whirlpool) side by side refrigerator Eric R. • Studio City , CA • June 18, 2020
Our Kenmore (Whirlpool) refrigerator's ice maker had stopped making ice. I searched YouTube and found a repair videos for this exact problem, finding one with a similar refrigerator and the identical ice maker. I learned that the Water Inlet Valve had likely gone bad and would need to be replaced. In the video the tech pointed out the small rubber tube inside the freezer that comes down from the ceiling of the refrigerator into the ice maker. This tube feeds it the water to make ice with and...

Loud noise coming from freezer. Periodic grinding like an old fan/motor. Jimmy F. • Evanston , IL • July 26, 2022
The fridge is 20+ years old in a home we recently moved into.
It sounded like a motor getting stuck on something or grinding weird... was hoping it wasn't something more serious. Found this site, clicked 'noisy' and got the replacement evaporator fan motor blade as well as the motor evaporator.
Turned out I didn't really need to replace the fan blade, but since I had it and ours was old, figured I might as well put in the new parts.
Followed the videos here, which were really helpful. The...

The Ice Dispenser Chute Door is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. This component is located in the ice dispenser mechanism on the freezer door and is responsible for opening and closing the ice chute. The chute door helps to dispense ice properly and prevents warm air from entering the freezer compartment, which can lead to frost buildup and inefficient cooling.
Symptoms of a failing Ice Dispenser Chute Door include:
- Ice not dispensing properly or getting stuck in the chute
- Frost or ice buildup around the ice dispenser area
- Warm air entering the freezer, causing temperature fluctuations
- The dispenser door not opening or closing correctly, leading to gaps
Causes of a bad ice dispenser chute door can include wear and tear from regular use, damage from ice jams or blockages, and degradation of the door’s sealing mechanism over time.
This OEM part is also compatible with some models from Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore.
Note: This part longer uses the ribbon heater due to the improved foam design. If your refrigerator uses this ice door and the mounting tabs are broken, you can use the broken tab ice door kit 8201756.

Ice dispenser chute door was not closing or sealing Robert H. • West Palm Bch , FL • July 23, 2025
The ice dispenser chute door had not been sealing for years. The ice cubes on the lower portion of the ice bin would melt enough eventually to then freeze up into a big, amalgamated blob of ice due to ambient air coming up the chute. This melt-then-freeze would happen, to the extent the chute froze to its own closure. Despite service technician visits over a period of six years nothing they did resolved the issue. I opened the freezer door to reach into the bin from the top to extract usable...

The handle on the refrigerator door was broken and needed to be replaced Richard W. • Baltimore , MD • April 12, 2015
Took off the freezer door, took off the top hinge on the refrigerator door, replaced the handle, re-installed the top hinge and the freezer door. This is a two person job - one to remove the top hinge and replace the handle, while a second person holds the refrigerator door in place. Replacing the handle was easy. The most irritating part was figuring out what parts to order. The drawing of the refrigerator door (Drawing # 4) used to figure out what parts to order was not clear. I paid $8...

The refrigerator side was not cooling Bryan W. • Austin , TX • February 28, 2020
After checking the suggested fixes and parts on Appliance Parts Pros, I ordered the defrost thermostat and evap motor for my refrigerator, a Kitchen Aid KSSC42QTS00. Installation was very easy, simply emptying the freezer and removing the access panel in the back bottom half. Upon getting everything open, I found out that the existing evap motor was working fine, so I didn't install that part. I did install the defrost thermometer, which was a 5-minute process.
