Ice dispenser not working or only dispensing sometimes? The auger motor powers ice ejection from the storage bin. DIY-friendly repair in under an hour.
I first thought it was the auger in the ice container so I changed it and it was not the problem. I then talked to ApplianceParts customer service that it might be the yoke on the motor that turned the auger or even the motor itself even though it worked. I ordered the parts, the yoke was supposed to be able to be changed by itself but mind would not come off the motor shaft so I had to cut it off just to remove it from the unit so I had to change the motor anyway because of this. So I advise... Read more
This is a water reservoir tank assembly used in the refrigerator's water dispensing or filtration system. It holds filtered water and supplies it to the dispenser or ice maker as needed. Replace this assembly if you notice water leaks inside the refrigerator compartment, reduced water flow from the dispenser, or if the existing reservoir is cracked or damaged.
I had a slow leak at the water inlet valve where the water line from the filter assembly connected to the water inlet valve. I determine that the water line had scratches in it which caused it to not seal. Had to buy the entire reservoir and filter assembly to get that water line. The replacement was smooth. It took about 30 minutes to swap out and it fixed the leak. Read more
Fix a refrigerator that won't cool, has a blank display, or won't defrost. This electronic control board manages temperature and cycles. 15-minute DIY repair.
Given all the symptoms, we figured that the control board went out. First, unplug the refrigerator. The control board was easy to access by removing a panel on the back of the fridge. I unplugged all the connectors and used a putty knife to release the board from the plastic retaining clips. There was some browning on the underside of the board and the back of the refrigerator that suggests one of the capacitors on the board blew. Install the new board by pressing it into the retaining clips... Read more
