I watched a few on line videos. Found 2 easy things to check. The motor coupler then the clutch. It took me about 30 minutes to get everything apart and find out which problem it was. Went on line to Appliance Pros.com and ordered the new clutch.It came in 2 days. Took less than 30 minutes to get it on and get everything back together. It was awesome. Read more

After looking up the model number of my washing machine on AppliancePartsPros.com I ordered the suspension rod kit, two sets of tub centering springs (one spring per corner), a Ring-Tub (mine was breaking apart due to banging around) and a spare suspension bearing kit in case I need it later. Viewed YouTube video of AppliancePartsPros.com replacing the agitator to see if I could do it myself. I ordered part from Sears but they never delivered. Cancelled order with Sears, ordered from APP and was sent part within 24hrs by fedex for less than Sears charged. Will only go APP and would recommend APP to everyone. First I looked at the many you tube vids, and there are many. appliance parts pros pretty much shows you how to deal with the parts. I changed the brake shoes and the clutch assembly which also comes with the driver cam. I also changed the metal brake operating cam. I think that brake lockup or improper brake release was the problem that broke the plastic cam driver. This was the broken plastic part making all the ticking noise. When I removed the cabinet, all of the springs appeared in tact, I had already replaced the counter balance spring so I knew that was not the issue. None of the suspension springs or brackets were broken but they did look worn/rusty so I replaced all of the brackets (2 in front and 1 large in back), all of the suspension spring retainers, and all of the suspension springs and it fixed the issue! I had to cut the old agitator out with an oscillating saw in order to access the agitator drive. This is the second Maytag (MVWC 565) I have had to do this to. I first tried removing it by sliding straps under the agitator then then using a jack to pull it loose which did not work either time. One suggestion I have would be to remove debris from tub as you cut in order to prevent it from dropping from the inner tub into the outer tub. Read more

Replaced agitator and washplate bolt and washer. Normally this would have been a 5 min job, however the bolt wouldn't come loose. The teeth on the agitator were worn down and the shaft the bolt screws into would turn with the bolt when trying to loosen it. I had to cut out the agitator using a dremel and hold the shaft in place with a vise grip in order to unscrew the bolt. Once the bolt was out I used WD-40 to help get the agitator off the gears.
