Water leaking from bottom of ice maker reservoir? This drain pump removes water during the flush cycle. Moderate DIY repair with tight wire connections.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Discoloration/growth on the water tube   Grant P. • Milton , WV • April 13, 2017

This tube is very difficult to work with due to its location behind the cold plate. I loosened the two screws on the left, but there's no way to get the screws on the left loose. I cut the hose off of the pipe at the top of the cold plate and slowly worked it out. The new tube comes folded in half, putting a bad crimp in the middle. The easiest way to get rid of the crimp is to pour boiling hot water onto the crimped area and then open up the tube. I didn't do it, but you might want to... Read more

Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP2313637

Ice maker not cutting cubes or ice sitting on cutter melting? Replace the cutter grid assembly. Easy 5-10 minute DIY repair—just two screws and two wires.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The ice maker was making very small ice cubes with a cloudy appearance   Igal E. • Memphis , TN • January 01, 2017

There are plenty of DIY youtube videos to show you how to replace the parts. I went ahead and replaced more than just the broken parts. I figured if I had the machine opened up, I might as well replace parts that could go out in the future. I might have gone a bit too far with all the other parts. The only part that was really broken was the wiring harness. Two of the wires had corroded from the sockets and there was no other way than to replace the entire harness. Its a bit tricky to feed... Cutting Grid Kit
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: 4387020

The Cutting Grid Kit is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool ice machines. It cuts sheets of frozen ice into individual cubes, ensuring ice is available in uniform sizes. Each kit contains 8 screws and approximately 10 feet of wire. Two kits are required to replace both directions of the cutting grid to ensure comprehensive restoration of the ice maker’s functionality.

Causes of a bad Cutting Grid Kit can be attributed to mineral deposits buildup, which can obstruct the cutting process, electrical malfunctions affecting the heating element, or physical damage to the grid wires.

Symptoms of a malfunctioning Cutting Grid Kit are:

  • Ice sheets not being cut into cubes
  • Accumulation of uncut ice in the bin
  • The heating element fails to warm up
  • Inconsistent ice cube sizes

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Broken cutting grid wire on kitchenaid kuis155 series ice maker   Chad F. • Stevens Point , WI • August 08, 2015

This was a fairly easy process. 1) Tighten one of the wire ends to a screw and keep the wire as taut as possible while wrapping it through the grid. Brace the grid against a corner wall, or held within a vice (don't over tighten in this instance). 2) Be sure to have the second screw ready to tighten, and again, keep the wire taut as you wrap it around this screw. It may take some re-wrapping to eliminate slack. 3) After the lower wrapped section is complete, repeat for the upper wire... Read more

Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WPW10217917

Fix leaking water or ice machine not filling. This water inlet valve controls water flow into the ice mold. DIY-friendly repair, typically takes 30 minutes.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Unit started making thin cloudy ice with chugging sounds during production.   Edmond B. • Prosper , TX • February 24, 2019

The water flow during the fill step appeared extremely low. Confirmed the unit would make proper ice if I manually added more water. Through online research, found this was a common fail mode for this valve (low flow, continuous flow or no flow). During this search, the following video (https://youtu.be/By-i3gVMOdI) outlined how to use the onboard diagnostics which indicated the water level sensor wasn't working. The sensor hangs down in the water reservoir and is accessed by removing the... Read more

Start Relay (Emb)
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP2217224

This start relay (EMB) energizes the compressor's start winding so the refrigerator can begin cooling reliably. Replacing a weak relay can resolve hard-start clicking and restore consistent operation when the compressor struggles to start.

  • Delivers initial power to the compressor's start winding, then disengages once the motor is up to speed
  • Supports reliable compressor starts and reduces repeated start attempts
  • Common symptoms: clicking from the compressor area, rising refrigerator/freezer temperatures, compressor starts then stops after a few seconds, or heat damage on the old relay
  • Works with EMB-style compressor connections used on select units
What's included: One start relay (EMB) Install notes:
  • Disconnect power to the appliance before servicing
  • Remove the rear access cover; note wire positions; pull the old relay straight off the compressor terminals
  • Seat the new relay fully on the compressor pins; reconnect the harness and any run capacitor lead exactly as removed
  • Reinstall the cover and restore power; use caution—capacitors may retain a charge

Ice Machine Cleaner
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: W11179302

The Ice Machine Cleaner is an OEM replacement part for use with Whirlpool ice machines. This cleaner plays a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency and longevity of your ice machine, ensuring it continues to produce clear, taste-free, and odorless ice. Formulated to remove scale and mineral build-ups, this solution is essential for the regular maintenance of ice machines, which can suffer from lime scale deposits and other residues that affect ice quality and machine performance.

Symptoms of needing an Ice Machine Cleaner include:

  • Reduced ice production efficiency.
  • The appearance of scale and mineral deposits within the machine.
  • Ice that tastes or smells unusual.
  • Increased energy consumption as the machine works harder to produce ice.

Regular use of the Ice Machine Cleaner is vital to prevent the accumulation of minerals and scale that can lead to inefficient cooling and increased energy consumption.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Ge ice machine zd1c150wbb d was not making ice   Gary G. • Moore , SC • June 24, 2017

Noticed that some terminals on the wiring harness were corroded and that no water was being pumped over the ice grid. Ice machine did get cold inside the compartment so it was not apparent that the compressor was bad. Ordered a Water Pump (from bin to ice grid) and a new wiring harness. Recirculating pump appeared to be okay. As I am not an experienced service tech (actually a Chemist) logic told me that my chances of success were high (not guaranteed though).. Water Reservoir (Dispenser)
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP2324334

This refrigerator water reservoir stores and chills water for the dispenser, helping deliver a steady, cold flow. Replace a cracked or leaking tank to stop internal leaks and restore consistent dispenser performance.

  • Holds water between uses so the dispenser delivers a steady, cold supply
  • Cracks or brittleness can cause leaks under crisper drawers or inside the fresh food section
  • Kinks or mineral buildup may restrict flow, causing slow or no dispensing
  • Freezing damage can split the tank, leading to intermittent leaks after thawing
What's included: 1 water reservoir (tank) assembly Install notes:
  • Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the water supply
  • Remove shelves/crispers and the interior access panel as needed; keep towels handy for residual water
  • Disconnect tubing and reuse existing fittings/brackets as required
  • Restore water, purge air through the dispenser for several minutes, and check all connections for leaks

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Ice machine would power itself off every couple days   Angela S. • West Harrison , IN • August 28, 2015

I believe the drain pump is designed to shut the machine off, if it senses a problem. I believe the problem was too much water going down the drain, more than the pump could handle perhaps. During operation there was more water dripping than seemed normal, though not a gush, just slow drips. Using a mirror I detected pretty large cracks in the bottom of the water pan. I ordered and replaced the water pan. In order to replace the water pan, the water pan pump must be removed from the bottom of... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Leaking around dishwasher door previous repair missing parts   Patrick R. • Peachtree City , GA • November 15, 2014

I ordered new seals from AppliancePartsPros.com. Finding the right seals was very easy, all based on model number of the appliance. While looking my unit over for other signs of wear, I noticed that a repair done by the prior homeowner to the lower wash arm was done improperly: a seal there was set protruding from the cover, the cover was missing screws, and the arm was missing the upper bushing. So I ordered a new seal, the missing screws, and both the top and bottom bushings (just to be... Read more

Ordered Bake Element, Y04100019 (Whirlpool AP4283614) to replace a broken bake element on my 30-year old Jenn-Air Model S125 Downdraft Slide-in electric range. Received the element very quickly but it had been damaged in shipping. Called AppliancePartsPros to report this and they quickly shipped another element - very easy process. Water Inlet Valve
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: W10585391

This water inlet valve regulates the flow of water into the appliance. When the control calls for water it opens; when closed it stops flow. Replacing a faulty valve helps restore proper filling and prevent unwanted leaks. What it does:

  • Opens and closes to control the water supply to the system
  • Helps maintain correct water flow during fill operations
  • Common symptoms of a failing valve: no water enters, slow or intermittent fill, water continues to flow when off, leaks at the valve or connections, or a humming/buzzing sound with little/no water
What's included:
  • 1 water inlet valve
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and turn off the water supply before servicing
  • Place a towel or container to catch residual water; relieve line pressure
  • Reconnect tubing and fittings securely; do not overtighten compression nuts
  • Restore water and power, then check all joints for leaks and run a test fill to purge air
