Dryer won't heat or start? This thermal fuse cuts power when temperatures get too high. Test with a multimeter for continuity. Easy DIY repair.
Did some dryer repair research (dryer not heating) on the internet. Bought an ohm meter, opened up the dryer and tested the cut-off-T, high limit thermostat, dryer igniter, flame sensor, cycling thermostat for continuity. The igniter was bad, the other parts tested ok. Went online to AppliancePartsPros.com searched for a new igniter for my specific dryer model, found the right replacement igniter and watched the video on how to replace the igniter. Because my dryer is old (15+ years) and I... Read more

Dryer won't start or stops mid-cycle? A failed drive motor is often the cause. This part powers the drum rotation. DIY repair in 30-40 minutes.
I watched the video at your website. I unplugged the electric first. When I opened up the machine up, It was loaded with lint.I found the source was a hole in the vent tube outside the machine. I fixed that first . The lint had been sucked back into the machine. The first half hour was spent vacuuming out all the lint and then I could proceeded with the motor change. I followed the video exactly. I removed the screws at the two front corners, after lifting the top and controls and tying it... Read more
Replacement mounting screw for securing components and housings in place. Order a new screw if yours is stripped, missing, or damaged during repairs.
One day my wife went to bake something and the bake/broil buttons as well as #3, #9, and oven light ceased to work. Local repair guy came by and wanted to charge $500 to fix it....YEAH RIGHT! Did a little homework and found this website, spoke with knowledgable staff who pointed me in the right direction. Took me all of about 20 minutes to install new control panel..everything works perfect...THANKS! p.s. In doing my research come to find Maytag did little to insulate control panel from oven... Felt seal creates an airtight barrier between drum and bulkhead for efficient drying. Replace if worn, torn, or causing longer dry times and lint buildup.
I took the dryer apart.....first had to clean out all the lint here and there. Took the drum out, inspected the belt and back support wheels. They seemed to be fine. In the front the drum turns on two supports that have a Teflon glide. Those two glides had been worn off with their pad so metal was rubbing against metal. Went online to appliancepartspros.com and looked up on the schematic what parts I needed. I also had called around locally and the same parts cost twice as much....so I... Read more

Replacement screw that secures the handle to the oven door trim. Needed when original screw is stripped, rusted, lost, or damaged during handle replacement.
Overall the fix wasn't too hard. The challenge was putting the oven door back together and holding it together while trying to tighten the screws. Enlisted my wife's help to hold the door and at first the handle screws wouldn't tighten. My cordless screwdriver's battery was under-charged. Once I switched batteries I was able to tighten the screws. Seemed like I needed to push too hard (my wife freaked "not so hard you will strip them!") however pushing hard was what was needed. Both screws... Read more

Dryer heating element cycling on and off too frequently or clothes taking hours to dry? Replace the cycling thermostat. 30-45 minute DIY repair.
I removed the front panel and observed the heating element while running the dryer. It was cycling off every minute or so and staying off for several minutes. Even though it was likely the high temp cycling thermostat I replaced both the 14, and 15 cycling thermostats which I think are the original factory units. That makes them nearly 35 years old. Problem fixed. Read more
Factory fastener screw secures panels, brackets, and trim inside appliances. Replace missing, stripped, or damaged screws to restore tight fit.
First replaced the drum rollers...that wasn't it..took dryer back apart and spun the belt tension wheel by hand (should have done this the first time I took the dryer apart) and it squeaked. so I ordered the full parts: wheel, idler arm, idler spring, arm sleeve, E ring..Put it back together and whoa..no more squealing!! Dryer stopped tumbling? A worn motor pulley causes belt slippage and no drum rotation. Direct replacement part, typically takes 15-30 minutes to install.
I put the new motor pulley on and re-attached the belt. I watched a crap ton of YouTube videos and performed what the professionals did. I ate food before the repair so my body would perform as a top ranked athlete. I moved my body in multiple positions between sitting down and kneeling over. I used a soft towel for my knees when kneeling. I asked my wife to "hold this" while I attached the belt. I screamed, "Quit moving it!!!!! (The drum)," while I put the belt around the pulley. I left my... Read more
