My husband is a natural handyman, I call him Bob the Builder (don't tell him I told you that!). When our washer started leaking we started looking for a used one online, when that didn't work he figured he'd take it apart and see if he could find the problem himself. Well after doing some research online we replaced the drain pump, which in the long run was a good idea because ours wasn't in very good condition, but our washer still leaked. So after some more looking around he found a hole on... Read more

This cam fits between the refrigerator door and hinge to create smooth, controlled movement and a self-closing feel. Replacing a worn cam restores proper door alignment and gasket contact to help maintain temperature and reduce frost or moisture.
I replaced the switch, the plunger, plunger guide and the lid cam, but the cam still didn't turn on the switch. Turned out someone had stood on the washer and bent the lid slightly, not enough to notice, but since I had ruled out just about everything else I started looking at the lid itself. I ended up bending it back close to it's original shape and now it works fine. I guess I learned a few things about washing machines though. One lesson is when you pull off the controls, the hose leading... Read more

This cycling thermostat regulates exhaust temperature by switching the heater on and off to maintain proper drying heat. Replacing a failed thermostat restores consistent temperatures, helps auto-dry timing, and protects against fabric-damaging overheating.
I went ahead and ordered the element, and the 2 different thermostats not knowing exactly which one might be the problem. My My Maytag opens from the front and it was actually pretty easy to get into. Also gave me the opportunity to vacuum out the inside of the dryer. Pop the top off, remove the wires that connect the door switch (noting the colors and placement), take off the 2 inside nuts that hols the fron on, pull it forward and lift it off, 3 inside screws to take out to inside lint part... Includes element, thermal fuse, heat shield, heater enclosure and ceramic insulators.
I figured there could only be a couple reasons why the dryer would not heat so I did some research. I read where you could test for continuity on the parts to determine which one was bad. A friend referred me to this site, I looked up the part for my particular model, ordered and replaced the part. It could not have been any easier. I will come back to this site with my future appliance parts needs for sure! Read more
This washer lid switch is the safety interlock that tells the machine the lid is closed. Replacing a worn switch restores proper spin and cycle operation and helps prevent nuisance shutoffs when the lid is bumped or opened.
I had removed three screws behind the control board cover of the washer, to access the old lid switch. I checked the continuety of the of the switch with a multimeter and it obviously failed the the test by displaying infinity of <1, rather than being 0. I removed the old switch with a flathead screw driver, I tested the new one and installed it in no time. Problem solved!!! Read more
This genuine replacement part is a drive motor for dryers. The drive motor is the main engine that allows the dryer drum to rotate. If the drum is no longer spinning properly, the drive motor might need to be replaced. Luckily this is a relatively simple process. To replace the drive motor, begin by unplugging the dryer. Once it is powered off, uninstall the front panel of the dryer by removing the screws that attach it. After that, lift the top panel above the drum so that it is vertical and no longer covering the drum. Then disconnect the wires from the moisture sensors with a screwdriver by pressing down on the locking tab. Once the wires have been removed, lift the drum out from the dryer to gain access to the drive motor. Using a socket wrench, remove the blower wheel from the motor assembly. Then remove the old drive motor by unthreading the mounting screws that attach it. Install the new drive motor and reassemble the dryer. This OEM replacement part is sold individually and is compatible with Whirlpools, Maytag, Kitchenaid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Sears/Kenmore brand dryers.

This internal-bias thermostat regulates dryer drum temperature by cycling the heat on and off, helping maintain consistent drying performance and protect against overheating.
Cleaned exhaust duct, but only from the dryer/laundry room side. Replaced thermal fuse. Unit worked for about two loads and thermal fuse blew again. This time I cleaned the exhaust vent on the roof of my 2-story house. It was found to be partially obstructed and I was able to remove a significant amount of lint from it. Also, I researched the problem and followed someone's advice to replace the cycling thermostat together with the thermal fuse if the thermal fuse blows. So far it has been... Read more
