When I took it apart I found that the drive cup was cracked, the helix lock plate hole was reamed out and the ice deflector spring was broken. The biggest problem was the helix had slipped down the shaft and allowed the end of the shaft to bore a hole in the housing which made it a bear to get out. Others have had the same problem. Ice dispenser not working or jamming? The ice bucket helix moves ice cubes to the crusher. Moderately difficult repair requiring full disassembly.
Ice was not being dispensed when lever was pushed in either crushed or cubed mode I removed the ice bin. After searching the web for reasons for this I pulled the bin out and started looking at auger assembly. I noticed that the sections of the Helix blades were missing. Ordered the Helix here at AAP and received the part the next day.
