Repair required removing all of the interior drawers & shelves and the interior back panel. There you will find the defrost heater. Behind the defrost heater is a metal plate as well as one on the back of the front interior cover. Both were corroded and in need of replacement. Replacement rail assembly for refrigerator vegetable drawers. Installs on the side wall to support drawer gliding. Needed when original is cracked or broken.
Removed the bottom shelf by releasing the 2 clips near the water filter, then lifted the front of the shelf and slid it out. Removed 2 screws from the broken Vegetable Rail and replaced it with the new one. Slid the shelf back into place and locked it down into the clips. Done. In order it SHOULD be done: Pried off two white caps covering the screws that attach the flap to the left door, then removed screws. Lifted flap up to remove from door and disconnected cable. Used a thin blade to pry out the inner cover of the flap, then carefully pried out the insulation piece inside. Loosened the screw holding the center cap from the inside and removed cap. I removed the broken rail saving the 2 Phillips head screws for installation of new drawer rail. Removal of the shelf above the drawers was required and was accomplished by pushing a button on the front of the shelf support. The installation was a snap and took about 10 minutes after removal of food items. The part was the correct one as verified by the model number on the inside of the refrigerator door. I looked at the blow up drawing to figure out what parts I might need. I then watched a you tube video to see how to take the handle off. I kind of figured out on my own how to remove the ruined cap handle. It took me a few minutes to figure it out and more time to remove both the handle and the broken part. I replaced the temperature sensor, the thermo fuse, and the heating element that thaws the evaporator on a cycle to keep the evaporator from freezing up. The most time consuming part of the repair was waiting for the fridge to thaw out so that I could remove the cover. Removed refrigerator panel, disconnected light and fan power. Removed fan assembly and replaced motor, grommets and fan attachment spring. Unit had adhesive on spring to help hold the spring. Chatted with customer service and clarified that spring and fan would easily pull off motor shaft. Adhesive probably was extra measure used during original build of the fridge. Bought new case-ice-route from AppliancePros.com for Samsung Refrig RF267ABRS. Part arrived intact and on-time. On my Samsung model, the original part has a chute (clear piece) with a molded channel for the water dispensing tube to sit in.
