Odor in dishwasher stuck valve in vertical tube replace check valve Victor F. • Durham , NC • December 26, 2014
The odor in the dishwasher was due to scum buildup in the walls, the racks, and in the lower part of the drain below the lower rotating arm. One of the valves in the vertical tube was stuck in the open position; since the valves cannot be replaced, the entire tube needed replacement. The check valve probably needed no replacement, but once I opened the bottom part, I decided to replace it anyway. I used this Youtube video to replace the tube, open and clean the drainage part of the washer:

All the leds on the front panel were off and there was water sitting in the bottom of the dishwasher from the previous cycle it appears the power was off to the unit Ryan R. • Bedford , NH • October 24, 2015
I first verified the house panel circuit breaker was not tripped. It wasn't so I removed the bottom kick plate of the unit, using a circuit cricket I verified the power feed to the unit was live.
The bottom kick plate had a trouble shooting guide in a plastic sleeve which I opened and reviewed. Based on information in there it appeared the TOC was likely the issue. (We recently lost power and used a stand by generator. Previously when we did the the dishwasher had a blinking LED on the...

Kitchenaid dishwasher leaking on bottom left of door Neil D. • Centerbrook , CT • January 14, 2017
First tried replacing the seal around the door as that was the simple and most logical fix. Still leaked. Removed the front and upper panel to inspect. Found calcium deposit running down from under the Air Vent Assembly and wet behind the black stick-on insulation. Easy to trace the leak to the bottom of the door.
=> Ordered new Air Vent Assembly, gasket and Vent Deflector.
Parts arrived. Took 5 minutes to remove upper panel. Removed the two wires from the Air Vent Assembly. Inserted a...

After watching a video on how to replace the drain pump, I carefully energized the dishwasher (from water and electricity) then removed the dishwasher to take a look. Machine running loud grew worse until it was obvious the motor blew a bearing Robert S. • Bettendorf , IA • February 21, 2015
We initially noticed the dishwasher running loud and failing to completely clean dishes. Research suggested issues like this were normally caused by either the main circulation motor or the drain motor. Over the next week the noise worsened, and it became obvious that the circulation motor had went (loud whirring noise whenever the spin cycle kicked in).
I watched a couple youtube videos on the removal and dissassembly until I felt confident that my wife and I could handle the project. For the...

Our 7 y/o dishwasher wouldn't close and therefore we couldn't get it to run. I called several service places who charged $75-$90 diagnostic plus parts & labor, and they were not able to get here for at least a week. I knew it was going to run at least $200. Kitchenaid wanted > $400 for a 1 YEAR WARRANTY, but it would cover this service call and any more throughout the next year. Seemed a little steep given the unit is already 7 y/o.
