Ultimately, the cycling thermostat appeared to be causing the problem. Although testing it did not reveal any issues, replacing it resolved the problem. I had tried the high limit thermostat which did not resolve the overheating issue. Replaced upper and lower felts. Painted rubbing surface on inside of drum with refrigerator enamel. Took out drum and lubed rear bearing. Replaced 2 of the 3 thermostats, and the belt just on principle. Spent a lot of time with shop-vac removing lint from drier and exhaust ducts. Runs great and is no longer cooking or staining clothes. Installed a new thermistor tempiture control and it heats up as it should. Tools used was a ohlm meter, 1" stiff puty knife, #2 Philips screw driver, neadle nose pliers,1/4 & 5/16 nut drivers. Read more

For an emergency fix I installed a 3 in1 kit disabling the original start cap and wiring in the original run cap to the run winding. Ordered the proper PTC and overload from Appliance Parts Pros and installed them 2 weeks later. The original start and run capacitor were good, rewired back to design specs. The original PTC had pins 1,2 and 3, the replacement had 2,3 and 4. Only wiring change was to install the red wire from pin 1 on the original PTC to pin 4 on the new PTC. Read more

The first part we ordered was the heating element. The dryer still wasn't heating so we ordered the thermostat. We received the thermostat, and got it put in the dryer still wasn't heating so I consulted my dryer manual and found out that even though there was electric to the dryer it still might not heat if the breaker was not all the way on, so I reset the breaker and voilà had heat.
