Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Lg french door in door ice maker stopped working   Erich Y. • Jensen Beach , FL • December 19, 2015

Replaced ice maker. Some confusion as to which part # it was as the model number cross reference shows the one I purchased was not for my model refrigerator when it actually was. Secondly, a few comments from others said the switch out was simple. Only 3 screws holding in the ice maker although one of the three was in a tight spot . That is technically true. Three screws do hold the ice maker on the door , however, you must also remove the door panel behind the ice maker to get to the wiring... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Samsung fridge wasn't making ice in upper icemaker   Stephen H. • Columbia , SC • January 22, 2017

This appears to be a weak spot on these refrigerators; the left-door ice maker will stop making (or at least consistently making) ice. Instead, an ice dam is created, which builds up in the ice maker corridor, making even getting the slide-in bucket nearly impossible to remove. The ice also freezes up the ice making tray, which therefore cannot drop the ice cubes. Generally, two things may go wrong which lead to this issue. The first is the ice-making assembly; its electrical components... Read more

You can do this! Although an Art Director by trade, I like working with my hands. I’m adept at working with tools and following instructions. In today’s disposable society, I prefer fixing things. That said, this has to be the easiest repair I’ve ever attempted with the largest cost-savings versus hiring a professional. My brand new dryer had been in use fewer than six months (average 6 loads per week) when suddenly the dryer would not heat. The drum would spin, there were no error codes, and... Read more

In the middle of Christmas baking, I noticed that it was taking a really long time to bake bread. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Amana model afd2535deb freezer cold fridge too warm not defrosting   Dan R. • Woodruff , SC • November 09, 2015

Toughest part of this repair is figuring out how to get things apart. Amana doesn't provide you a repair manual showing how to disengage the various plastic covers. Initially disassembled the bottom freezer compartment so I could get to the evaporator coils; they were completely frozen in block of ice, restricting air flow to the fridge above. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You No heat   Dan R. • Woodruff , SC • November 30, 2018

First ran the built-in diagnostic tests. Got error code indicating that the inlet thermistor was open. Removed lower access panel and did continuity checks on the inlet thermistor, thermal cutoff and heating element. Even doing these checks is very difficult on this model due to the location of these parts and the limited access through the so-called access panel.
