Refrigerator not dispensing ice or making grinding noises? This ice container assembly stores ice and includes the auger mechanism. Easy DIY repair.
The drive blade has come off of the drum and the auger. When I try to dispense ice and the auger rotates, the drive blade does not rotate with it. Hence, the drive blade was not pushing ice into the drum (and into the ice crusher housing and dispense chute). Apparently, the hole of the drive blade was no longer "biting" the auger so that it will rotate with it. I did not know how to re-attach the drive blade back to the auger (short of welding it). So I ordered the Ice Container Assy. Took out... Read more

Ice dispenser not working or coupling spins freely? This motor coupling connects the dispenser motor to the auger. 10-minute fix with channel lock pliers.
I first thought it was the auger in the ice container so I changed it and it was not the problem. I then talked to ApplianceParts customer service that it might be the yoke on the motor that turned the auger or even the motor itself even though it worked. I ordered the parts, the yoke was supposed to be able to be changed by itself but mind would not come off the motor shaft so I had to cut it off just to remove it from the unit so I had to change the motor anyway because of this. There was little room on the side of the ice maker for the cable and connectors to fit. Make sure the connector that mates with the refrigerator cable is seated onto the plastic housing and does not stick out or dangle out.... Read more
