1) Unscrewed the metal pieces behind the switch panel. You'll notice 3 screws. Afterwards, I realized that I just needed to remove the screws to the left and right of the switch box. I took it apart to troubleshoot. I was pretty sure it was the switch but wanted to make sure it wasn't the element as well. Sure enough the switch was burnt at a little piece of copper protruding out the side. The plastic was blackened too which was a telling sign. The element was fine.
