The Evaporator Fan Motor is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. It serves a pivotal role in circulating air over the refrigerator's evaporator coils, helping to maintain the cool temperatures throughout the unit. This circulation is crucial for the efficiency and effectiveness of your refrigerator's cooling process.
Causes of a bad Evaporator Fan Motor can include wear and tear over time, motor burnout due to electrical issues, or obstruction that prevents the fan from spinning.
Symptoms of a bad Evaporator Fan Motor include:
- Unusual noises coming from the refrigerator, such as humming or buzzing, indicating the motor is struggling.
- The refrigerator or freezer section is not cooling adequately.
- A noticeable difference in temperature between the top and bottom of the refrigerator or freezer.
- Ice build-up on the evaporator coils due to inadequate air circulation.
This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Kitchenaid refrigerator not cooling now it is! Laura M. • Buford , GA • September 25, 2015
My KitchenAid refrigerator was not cooling, but the freezer was working perfectly. The help section here listed three parts that could be defective–defrost thermostat, evaporator fan motor and blade, and air diffuser/damper control–so I replaced them all. The videos were EXCELLENT, and despite the difficulty I had squeezing my shoulders into the small freezer compartment, I installed the parts and my refrigerator is cooling perfectly! THANK YOU FOR THE EXCELLENT REPAIR VIDEOS! I am so happy...
