Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You My oven would not light   Jean B. • Pass Christian , MS • June 22, 2014

My Tappan Range, which I paid a grand total of $65.00 for, and have been using since Katrina, (Katrina in 2005 is how we measure time in South Mississippi.) I live in an old house, and I am old, too. Last winter was the coldest I can remember, and my husband (older than I and far more hard-headed) used the oven like a heater. I read all user's manuals, because I use only used stuff, I can download the manuals or read them online, and it clearly stated in there NOT to use the oven as a... Read more

Gas Oven Ignitor
Genuine Frigidaire part
By: Frigidaire
Part Number: 316489403

The Gas Oven Ignitor is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire gas ranges and ovens. It uses electricity to generate a spark that ignites the burner flames for heating. To check if the ignitor is the issue, look inside the broiler oven while the oven is turned on. If the element is glowing a bright red, it's getting power. If not, it may not be getting enough power to ignite the gas and should be replaced.

Symptoms of a bad gas ignitor can include:

  • The oven or burners failing to ignite or stay lit consistently
  • Diminishing heating performance over time
  • Burners that intermittently ignite or go out

Causes stem from normal wear with extended use. The ignitor's ability to spark diminishes as parts degrade. No spark means no gas ignition.

This OEM replacement part is compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore brands.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Replacement of oven ignitor   Joe H. • South Abington Township , PA • February 05, 2021

My Kenmore 790.74139310 gas range was taking over 30 minutes to reach 350F. It used to take a little less than 10 minutes. The problem was the ignitor for the lower gas burner. It would glow but not pass sufficient current to increase the gas flow to the lower burner. Once at temperature, there is of course loss of heat when loading the oven with room temperature food. This took too long to recover, so we did not have proper temperature for proper cooking for the first 30 to 40 minutes. Food... Read more

Range Oven Temperature Sensor Probe
Genuine Frigidaire part
By: Frigidaire
Part Number: 316490000

Fix F10 error codes or inaccurate oven temperatures with a new sensor probe. Common fix for ovens that overheat or won't reach set temp. Easy DIY repair.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You F10 error code started flashing and my oven shut itself off temperature control failed   John C. M. • Ruther Glen , VA • July 15, 2014

After I came from from work, my wife told me about the problem. I quickly began to research the code F10 which according to the paper in the pouch behind my range said it needed a new temperature control sensor and that should fix it. It also said that if that doesn't fix the problem that I'd have to replace the circuit board which probably got fried due to the runaway temperature. So, I decided to just order the temperature sensor part# AP3963654 for $25.63 plus shipping. I ordered the part at... Read more

Light Bulb (40W)
Genuine Frigidaire part
By: Frigidaire
Part Number: 316538904

The Light Bulb (40W) is an OEM part for Frigidaire appliances. Specifically designed to fit and function with Frigidaire models, this 40-watt bulb illuminates the interior of your oven, making it easier to check on the progress of your baking or roasting without opening the oven door.

Over time, oven light bulbs can burn out or be damaged from high temperatures or accidental bumps during cleaning or cooking. A functioning light bulb is crucial for the optimal operation of your oven, enhancing visibility and improving your cooking experience.

Symptoms of a bad Light Bulb include:

  • The oven interior remains dark when the light switch is engaged.
  • Flickering light, indicating a loose connection or nearing the end of the bulb's lifespan.
  • Completely non-functional light, which can hinder your ability to monitor cooking progress.

This OEM Frigidaire part can also be used on Electrolux, Frigidaire, Gibson, Kelvinator, Westinghouse, and Sears/Kenmore.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The bottom heating element wasn't working in top oven   Kevin Scott W. • Parker , CO • January 09, 2015

Before we replaced the board, my wife tried to replace just the element. We had one we had ordered several years ago when this same thing happened. When that didn't work we replaced the board and could see where the old board was damaged so we figured this was the solution. It would have been except the bottom element my wife used to replace the old element (which was fine but had been thrown out figuring the new one was new so why keep the old one) was 1" shorter in the back than the old... I have used this site before to fix my dishwasher, so I knew to check here first. I searched other's comments to troubleshoot my problem. Ordered the part and it arrived in only a couple of days. I should insert here that I am a 45 yo female, so if I could do this, anyone can. I watched the video and proceeded to replace the part. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Oven temperature was not consistant and varied at the same setting   Robert T. • Palm Beach Gardens , FL • October 13, 2014

I replaced the probe which is a thermocouple. Naturally the connector was different from the one on the stove so I cut off the connector on the old probe and soldered it to the new probe. The cleaning of the wires and soldering them was the most time consuming activity of the repair. My wife just tried the stove and the oven temperature read exactly as the setting. Read more

Gas Range Spark Module
Genuine Frigidaire part
By: Frigidaire
Part Number: 808608802

If your gas burners won't light or igniters aren't sparking, the spark module likely needs replacement. DIY-friendly repair, typically 10-15 minutes.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Two of my four burners would light up   Evan W. • Mount Rainier , MD • August 29, 2014

I tried swapping the cables around by putting the cables from the burners that would light onto the ones that didn't light. When I did that the problem would move. So this is how i determined that the issue was with this module and not the burners or cables. Once this new module arrived it was simple to disconnect the old one and put the cables back on the new one. I tested it (holding by breath!) and then all of the burners started. HOORAY! Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Burner wouldn't light automatically   Cheryl W. • Carlsbad , CA • March 31, 2017

Replaced igniter and orifice assembly, and replaced spark module. Used the video for help, but the video doesn't show the top cover piece that needs to be taken off first. Also the screws for the igniter set were stuck from old grease or something and had to be drilled out. Overall the project was well worth my time for the cost vs replacement decision.
