VERY simple fix- you do not even have to pull the range out.. I ordered a new cooktop from Appliance parts Pros. The customer sales rep Alphonso was great and walked me through the general process. I could find no explicit instructions for the repair but I muddled my way through. The fix is simple on Kitchenaid/Whirpool slide in ranges. 1. Open the oven door and remove the two phillips head screws directly below the control panel that hold the panel down.2. Lift the control panel upward and... Read more
Foam seal tape creates an airtight barrier between your cooktop and countertop, preventing spills from dripping into cabinets. Replace when worn or gaps appear.
My cooktop repair was a total success from start to finish. I reviewed and later followed the APP repair video, which helped me decide if I wanted to tackle the repairs and guided me right before I started. The APP phone staff member was very helpful verifying the parts I had identified online using the model number of my older GE Profile cooktop to locate and view the correct online exploded view diagram. I told him it was a pleasure working with him. The parts arrived within 3 days of... Read more
Rubber foot that attaches to the bottom of cooktop grates. Replace if cracked, worn, missing, or loose to prevent grates from sliding and scratching.
I removed all the individual burners so I could lift the stainless cover to expose the igniter wires. I cleaned all the wire connections and the 4 good igniters and replaced the one bad igniter. Reassembly was easy and everything worked properly when done. Video of repair was helpful and all parts ordered were correct and shipped promptly and I will definitely use AppliancePartsPros again. Gas pressure regulator for cooktops and ranges. Installs on the gas supply line to control flow to burners. Replace if cracked, leaking, or missing.
When I moved in to my new house I noticed there was no regulator, and the gas line was copper tubing. I ordered a regulator and ran 40 of trac pipe to make it up to code. Hooking up the regulator was easy. Read more
Control knob for selecting cooktop settings and temperatures. Installs on the control panel. Replace if cracked, broken, or worn from regular use.
Second repair after 10 years of service - igniter had cracked and spill overs were causing the others to misfire. This was a two-step process. I took apart the cooktop to see what parts were neded. Screws were all rusted, I had to drill ome out. The burner gaskets broke during the process and needed replacement. One of the burners had deformed due to excess heat. After that initial diagnose, I reassembled the cooktop without the igniters and ordered all the parts I needed. The second stage was... Read more

Fix a burner that won't light or only clicks by replacing the igniter. This DIY repair takes about 10 minutes with basic tools. Fits GE gas cooktops.
Burner head sits on top of the burner base on gas cooktops. Replace if warped, cracked, or causing uneven flame distribution across the burner surface.
I examined the inner burner heads and determined that two of the most frequently used burners were warped and were not making good contact with the burner base. It's a GE Profile series stove about 10 -12 years old. I checked the GE Parts website, and they wanted almost $100 for the large burner head but didn't even have the small one at all, saying it was no longer available. By Googling the parts numbers, I found Appliance Part Pros, and they had both burner heads available. They were still a... Read more

This switch harness assembly is part of the surface-burner ignition system. It links the burner valve switches to the spark module so the cooktop ignites when you turn a knob, restoring consistent sparking.
Well after looking the issue up on YouTube I first tried the cleaning of the burners no help. So I decided I needed to replace either the harness switch assembly or the spark module. I decided that since I had to remove the glass top and install either and put if all back together before I would know if it worked, I just did both at once since it seemed it had to be one or the other. Got the parts ordered for the correct model, turned off the gas and pulled the top. Took about 90 minutes,... Read more
