This replacement driver spring is a genuine OEM part for a string trimmer with a starter rope ignition. When an operator pulls the starter rope, the rope must recoil back into the starter assembly before it can be used again. This spring connects to a driver pulley in the starter assembly and maintains the right amount of tension needed to recoil the pulley. Over time, driver springs will begin to lose some of their tension. This is especially true if the operator is quite rough on their appliance.
