My oven would not light Jean B. • Pass Christian , MS • June 22, 2014
My Tappan Range, which I paid a grand total of $65.00 for, and have been using since Katrina, (Katrina in 2005 is how we measure time in South Mississippi.) I live in an old house, and I am old, too. Last winter was the coldest I can remember, and my husband (older than I and far more hard-headed) used the oven like a heater. I read all user's manuals, because I use only used stuff, I can download the manuals or read them online, and it clearly stated in there NOT to use the oven as a...

The Gas Oven Ignitor is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire gas ranges and ovens. It uses electricity to generate a spark that ignites the burner flames for heating. To check if the ignitor is the issue, look inside the broiler oven while the oven is turned on. If the element is glowing a bright red, it's getting power. If not, it may not be getting enough power to ignite the gas and should be replaced.
Symptoms of a bad gas ignitor can include:
- The oven or burners failing to ignite or stay lit consistently
- Diminishing heating performance over time
- Burners that intermittently ignite or go out
Causes stem from normal wear with extended use. The ignitor's ability to spark diminishes as parts degrade. No spark means no gas ignition.
This OEM replacement part is compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore brands.

Replacement of oven ignitor Joe H. • South Abington Township , PA • February 05, 2021
My Kenmore 790.74139310 gas range was taking over 30 minutes to reach 350F. It used to take a little less than 10 minutes. The problem was the ignitor for the lower gas burner. It would glow but not pass sufficient current to increase the gas flow to the lower burner. Once at temperature, there is of course loss of heat when loading the oven with room temperature food. This took too long to recover, so we did not have proper temperature for proper cooking for the first 30 to 40 minutes. Food...

The Oven broil Igniter is an OEM part for Frigidaire ovens and ranges. This component is responsible for igniting the gas in the oven burner, allowing the oven to heat up. It works by drawing electrical current through the igniter filament until it becomes hot enough to ignite the gas, providing the flame necessary for cooking.
Common causes for an Oven Igniter to fail include a burnt-out filament, a break in the igniter's ceramic base, or a malfunction within the igniter's electrical system.
Symptoms of a bad Oven Igniter include:
- Oven not starting or heating up
- Gas smell when the oven is turned on
- Weak or no glow from the igniter element
- Unusual noises when attempting to ignite the gas
This OEM Frigidaire part can also be used on Electrolux, Frigidaire, Gibson, Kelvinator, Westinghouse, and Sears/Kenmore.

The Ignitor is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire gas ovens and ranges. It is responsible for igniting the gas to produce a flame for cooking or baking. The ignitor heats up to a high temperature and then ignites the gas, ensuring efficient and reliable operation of your appliance.
Over time, ignitors can wear out due to repeated heating cycles, exposure to moisture, or general aging. A failing ignitor may struggle to reach the necessary temperature, preventing the oven or range from igniting properly.
Symptoms of a bad ignitor include:
- The oven not heating or taking an unusually long time to preheat
- Weak or inconsistent burner flames
- Clicking sounds without ignition of the burner
- A visible crack or damage to the ignitor element
This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.

I have used this site before to fix my dishwasher, so I knew to check here first. I searched other's comments to troubleshoot my problem. Ordered the part and it arrived in only a couple of days. I should insert here that I am a 45 yo female, so if I could do this, anyone can. I watched the video and proceeded to replace the part. For my particular model, I didn't access the part from the back, but instead through the underside by removing the bottom drawer. Total from start to finish...

The Top Igniter Electrode is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire gas ranges. This part provides the spark to ignite the surface burners.
Causes involve repetitive heat stresses and deterioration of internal wiring over extended use. Corrosion from possible gas or moisture intrusion may also degrade electrode performance.
Symptoms of a faulty top igniter electrode include:
- Burners failing to light or stay lit during cooking
- Potential gas leaks or explosions from unlit burners
- Difficult relighting requiring extended holds of ignition buttons
This Frigidaire OEM replacement part is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and some Kenmore models.

Weak spark on right side burners causing them to not light Joseph Z. • Country Club Hills , IL • October 24, 2016
This is a Montgomery Ward gas range made by Tappan. Parts are no longer offered for this appliance. So, I had to eyeball various ignitors to determine which one would work. I settled on the least expensive one and ordered two (Just in case there were "issues"). The parts arrived quickly but were not a simple drop-in replacement. The new ones were longer and smaller in diameter. I had to use the original bracket because it provided the electrical ground for the spark. I used a spring to...

This is the spark electrode used to ignite the gas in the oven. It creates a spark at the burner to light the flame so your oven can heat reliably.
- Generates the spark that lights the oven burner
- A failed electrode can cause no heat, delayed ignition, or the oven not lighting
- Intermittent sparking or clicking without ignition may indicate a worn or cracked tip
- Carbon buildup or damage to the ceramic insulator can prevent proper ignition
What's included: One oven spark igniter assembly as pictured Installation notes:
- Disconnect power and shut off gas before servicing
- Access the burner area, note wire routing, and handle the ceramic insulator carefully
- Position the electrode tip at the specified gap to the burner per service literature
- Test for proper spark and burner ignition after reassembly

The ignitor had gone out on our oven Jared P. • Stonewall , LA • August 09, 2015
We ordered a new ignitor and it came in two days just as promised. The only problem that we experienced was that the leads on the new ignitor were to short. We were able to find enough slack on the oven end to make it work. The oven is once again working great. The video was a little off on what need to be done to disconnect the ignitor. We actually had to flip the oven over to get to the bottom. We could not access the connector through the back.

Oven slow to light and come up to temp Tim P. • Ham Lake , MN • December 20, 2014
Read the reviews on your site and watched your video and decided it was worth a try to fix rather than to replace stove.
Ordered the igniter for the oven then I also ordered the igniter for the broiler as it was sluggish as well. When you go, go all the way. Only problem I had was with the wire nuts, wish that something more substantial was provided.
Got the stuff quickly, as promised and installed as per video and oven and broiler work like new.
Thanks!!!!!

Part Number: 316081705
This top burner spark igniter creates the spark that lights gas at the surface burner. Replacing a worn or cracked electrode restores fast, reliable ignition and helps stop burners that click but won't light.
- Generates a high-voltage spark at the burner head to ignite gas
- Common symptoms: surface burner won't light, no visible spark, intermittent ignition, or constant clicking
- Cracked ceramic, contaminated tip, or heat damage can prevent a good spark
- Direct replacement for the failed electrode on a single burner
Install notes:
- Disconnect power and shut off gas; allow the appliance to cool before service
- Note lead routing and bracket orientation; mount using the existing hardware per your model
- Keep the ceramic insulator clean and dry; avoid bending or touching the tip
- After installation, ensure burner base and cap are seated correctly; verify spark and ignition
