Burner not heating or intermittent power? Failed terminal block causes poor electrical connections. Direct plug-in replacement, basic tools needed.
Full disassembly of removable tray into top plate (stainless) and lower pan taking care not to loose fasteners. Removal of terminal blocks using lubrication on rusted screws and, if necessary, drill out technique. Unclip wires from edges of the tray on both sides without losing the clips for future re-use. Top plate is now completely free of connections and may be cleaned/scrubbed separately in advance of re-assembly. Unfasten spade insulation block (located in the front of the tray) after... Read more
Clear glass panel inside your range door. Replace if cracked, shattered, or broken. Installs between door frame layers for heat retention and viewing.
I am a 42 year-old, reasonably handy woman with limited strength and a little arthritis in my hands, and I managed this all on my own, just. fine. Prep: Put an old blanket on a counter, because you will need to put the door OUTSIDE UP, INSIDE down on it with the hinges dangling over the edge of the counter. You will also need degreaser (I used straight white vinegar) if you want to clean things up while you have it taken apart. You will also need glass cleaner (or use vinegar and a microfiber... Oven won't ignite, slow to heat, or gas smell before lighting? This range igniter starts gas combustion. Takes about 15 minutes to install DIY.
Troubleshot the oven by checking the broiler which worked good (same fuel valve). After reading the some tips about troubleshooting the Glow Ignitor I could see the broiler ignitor got white hot and the oven ignitor only got bright orange (orange to red causes intermittent ignition or mini explosions). Watched the how to video and it was good information. You should be observant about which openings in the back of the oven as to where the two wires are coming out of. My oven is over 12 years... Fix a microwave that runs but won't heat or won't start when door closes. This door switch is a common fix—most DIYers replace it in 15 minutes.
Checked the three door switches; used ohm meter to see if there was resistance or if a switch was bad. 2 out of 3 switches showed resistance with the ohm meter. The last one tested (of course the last one) NO (normally open) did not show resistance; I.e. the ohm meter reading did not change when the switch was depressed. Appliance parts pros was the only company that had the same model number I was looking for (SZW-V16-FD-63). I ordered the relay switch, 2 days later it arrived (regular... Read more
