The 20 year old unit still serves us well, looks good and has been kept in good repair. The condenser fan had stopped so I removed, cleaned and oiled that motor. The decision was made to make an upgrade to the evaporator motor and control units so that the appliance could reasonably be expected to have extended service life. Removed & replaced baffle. Make sure you have a 1/4" nut driver. You can't see the nut that is at a 90 degree angle from the front of the refrigerator. There is a second nut hidden behind the air filter at the back of the compartment as well. Once you remove these two, the plastic housing comes off & the assembly (which is mostly made of Styrofoam) is easily replaced. Read more

Temporary fix was to glue it. The final fix was a new pan which is sold as a complete unit. Old one out, new one in. The hardest part was determining what the part was called. I was looking for a "drawer" as the crispers are called, but after some searching I found a parts diagram that called it a "utility pan". Problem solved, part ordered and installed. The auger would not turn the dispenser because the screw threads were stripped. I could not re-thread it so I had to replace the entire motor assembly. The video your company provided was extremely helpful not only for fixing the problem but to give me the confidence to do it myself. Instructions are very dumb, but it's an easy fix. Loosen all the nuts that hold the metal bars that hold the old gasket. (Loosen. Don't take them off!) Pull off the old gasket. Slip the new into place all the way around. Get the corners in position, middles can be loose. Tighten the corners, then work the middles into place and tighten as you go. Done. Read more

It's bit of a chore in that on my Whirlpool Refrig you need to remove the grill on bottom front and the Utility Panel on bottom rear. Then unscrew the original filter housing and pull it out through the back of utility opening. Remove the two water hoses and put them into new filter house. Reverse the disassembly process to reinstall new filter housing. I'm old and slow so the process took me about 45 minutes. (Note: Unplug electric and turn off water inlet before starting.) Read more
