• Door won't close

This oven was a Kenmore model #66595822003. I replaced both spring hinges. This oven was a white oven so it took the MFG# WP8053807 hinge (order two of them). They are the same hinge. No left or right. To get the door off the oven, open the door all the way open, I installed pins (preferably only 1/4" long) in the holes of both hinges. The hardest part of this repair was a) realizing that the easiest way to clean the oven door pieces is to remove the whole door and b) figuring out how to put the oven door back on. Doing (b) is infinitely easier if you stick two allen wrenches into the holes in the door hinge, but these holes ONLY appear when the door is fully open. I removed the screws inside the oven door and the retainer rings holding the handle onto the glass. I then replaced the handle put on new retainer rings and used the new screws provided and re-attached the handle and glass to the door. Total fix time 10 minutes. I was impressed by the quick delivery of my new handle and the fact that they sent new hardware as well. My oven was only down for three and a half days , only because it happened on the weekend. Read over a few FAQs on the part I was ordering that answered my question of yes this is for a set of four. That was very helpful by the way. Simple. Just pulled out the old and popped in the new. Rangetop looks much better, though grates and burner rings (no longer available) could use repainting with heat resistant enamel or some other treatment. Read more

Replaced both hinges... simple repair, took about 20 minutes. My only issue is that I replaced these hinges a year and a half ago to repair the same problem. Seems like Whirlpool could have designed a better door. Read more

I had to take out the bottom drawer that holds pans. Disconnect the power and pull the oven out. Removed door, rear panel that held the screws for the side panel and lift up and out the side panel. After that it was straight forward as to replacing the hinge. Spent more time cleaning the florr where the oven was than installing the hinge. Read more
