I replaced the belt, belt tension pulley, both dryer drum roller axles and both drum support rollers. Although I bought 2 tumbler bearing kits, because those still look good I am saving them for when they go bad. The videos were fantastic! I also took pictures as I went of wiring so there would be no question where things went when reassembling. Our 19 year old Whirlpool dryer quit heating. After checking the thermal fuse, I found the ignitor electrically open. I ordered the tub seal and stem seal kits along with the much needed spanner wrench. After viewing the video online several times and taking notes along the way I was ready to tackle the repair. After taking everything apart, I cleaned all areas thoroughly then addressed the rusty areas and mineral deposits found in the tub. I replaced the motor and all other moving components along with the felt drum seals.drum glides and drive belt. The wiring instruction is where i had the most problems. I just wanted to put my experience here for all to see. I have a Maytag Neptune, MAH5500BWW, one of the original ones. I bought it back in 2002 and it has done many many loads of wash faithfully. So when the bearings started to get loud I thought it best to replace them, the seal kit and the belt. I did my research as best I could and decided to order the OEM parts from an appliance supplier. The root cause was the front glides. They were virtually gone, and the drum was on metal to metal. So I replaced them with a front glide kit. I also replaced the belt, rear rollers, and lint screen. I took the dryer apart.....first had to clean out all the lint here and there. Took the drum out, inspected the belt and back support wheels. They seemed to be fine. In the front the drum turns on two supports that have a Teflon glide. Those two glides had been worn off with their pad so metal was rubbing against metal. First time DIY dryer repair. Videos very helpful! Remove front. Found glides worn thin, paint on drum removed where glides located. Drum, cage and motor turned easily - must be OK. After replacing thermal fuse once and having it fail a second time, I had to dig a little deeper to uncover the problem. I checked for blockage in the vent but everything was clear. I did, however, find that the drum had some up and down play in it. After closer inspection, I could see that the front drum seal was actually worn to the point that I could see a gap between the seal and the drum.
