Discovered that the common cause of the problem was the latch in the door. Found a video online that showed the exact procedure for my model dishwasher. Ordered the part from AppliancePartsPros on a Thursday afternoon and it was in my hands by noon on Friday. Carefully took the door apart, compared parts, reassembled, and the joy on my wife's face was priceless when the dishwasher started up without doing anything special. First had to clean inside the empty freezer, that was the hard part. removed old gasket and cleaned inside the track in the door. had the new gasket well warmed and in the right shape. put new gasket in track. seating it firmly. It was very easy. I did watch a couple of online videos to get the general idea of what it detailed. Ordered new handle from Appliance Parts Pro and replaced with the new handle. Read more

Removed oven door by simply lifting it off of the hinges. New models of most stoves have two screws easily accessible from inside the oven door, but this older stove required the entire inner part of the oven door to be disassembled and the interior glass removed before the two screws that attach the handle can be accessed. The grommet was old and very caked with old dishwasher scum. So water was leaking through where the soap door latch goes into the door. I replaced the rubber grommet (and the plastic latch that came with the kit, even though the old one was probably fine). Fit perfectly and looked just like the old one. Works like a champ, no leaking! Read more

I took out the old screws which were a bit of a challenge. The new handles seemed too short. Learned they needed to be warmed to be more flexible. Put near fireplace for a few minutes. Then with a little pressure they snapped into place and I screwed them in. Looks like new again. Read more

New part arrived promptly in two days (which is good because wife was whining about Christmas dinner and all. Had to take door apart which was no big deal and the screws for the handle were accessed from the inside. Whole job took about half an hour. The lesson to be learned here is when you pull the range away from the wall, open the bottom drawer slightly and pull from there; not on the handle. Read more
