Followed the instructions that came with the replacement part: made sure stove top was unpowered, unscrewed the old housing from the stove top, cut the wires, stripped some insulation off, attached the new wires with the (accompanying) wire nuts, attached new housing to stove top. Read more

The bake (bottom burner) worked after replacing the ignitor. Becareful and do not drop the ignitor or the element will break. I found out the hard way. After many years of excellent service the burner I use most often on the top of my JenAir range rusted through. After trying to remove the burner, which was firmly rusted into place, I decided to replace the cooktop pan, both burners and igniters. It was an easy repair to swap out the new parts for the old, and the only tool necessary was a #2 phillips screw driver. Replaced the igniter, Simple but there are several points to remember. TURN THE POWER OFF 1) remove the oven door or you will have a hard time reaching the back of the oven. Mine just lifted off. 2) The igniter tip is fragile put a drop cloth over the oven floor in case you drop it even after it is in its holder. 3) The drop cloth will catch screws too if you drop them so they won't fall into the oven. 4) The cable from the oven is very short even after pulling it out from the hole at the back.... Turned off power supply. Removed two screws (near the oven door) holding the ceramic top. Slid the top forward, disengaged the two power supply cables, and removed one ground wire. Removed range top, and put on a flat surface. Unclamped two power supply wires, one ground wire and one thermocouple wire from the element.
