The top level (3rd level as called by ge/appliancepartspros) spray arm fell off Yuan S. • San Ramon , CA • June 27, 2014
There is a plastic "snapping" feature (Two plastic tabs that when pressed together can fit into the holes on the spray arm. Once in there, the tabs expands and keep the spray arm in place) that comes out of the top onto which the spray arm is attached to. That plastic piece broke and the spray arm fell off.
It wasn't clear how the snapping feature was attached to the top of the dishwasher at first. I was looking for a replacement for it and could not find it on any of the assembly diagram...

The Plastic Coarse Filter is an OEM replacement part for GE dishwashers. It refers to a screen fitted over the wash impeller that traps soil and food debris. Subject to constant exposure to water and detergents, plastic parts can wear down over many cycles.
Symptoms of a bad coarse filter include:
- Clogged or blocked mesh no longer prevents large particles from entering the wash arm spray jets

- Brittle or broken crosspieces within the screen compromising structural integrity
Causes of failure relate to the chemical deterioration of plastic combined with physical stresses as debris repeatedly builds up and then dislodges during high-velocity rinse cycles.
