I ordered a new switch from APP and fixed my fridge. However, the video posted for this repair on this site is not applicable to newer refrigerator models. I have a 2015 GE GTE18IHCRSS and had to drop the control housing (#432 in the diagram) to attach the wire/plug assembly to the switch. I replaced the water inlet valve. The toughest part was closing off the feed line while I waited for the valve to be delivered. The needle valve used to install the feed line wouldn't close completely. I ended up fabricating a plug from some parts from the hardware store. The mounting bracket on the new valve was completely different from the original, but it still mounted easily enough. Replaced with OEM replacement seal. Watched video on appliance parts pro which showed the proper process to remove the old seal and install a new seal. Surprisingly, it was very quick and only took about 15-20 minutes, including removing the freezer door and re-installing freezer door after seal installation. Unfortunately, a new seal did not cure my problem. 4 days later, I have ice building up again. I studied the new seal and noted there are small gaps at the corners of the freezer... Read more
