The problem was partly caused because the original legs were at full extension. The replacement legs were longer than the originals and were more secure at the needed length. One difficulty was that the threaded base plate where the legs screwed in had been damaged and had to be reshaped, I was able to reshape the sockets with some effort, to allow the legs to thread in, though one remained slightly angled. My Whirlpool refrigerator model GSS26C4XXF03 door wouldn’t swing shut all the way like it used to. So I changed the two lower cams. This cam #WPW10257203 was a perfect match but I needed to change the matching cam on the hinge, also, which require some modification to fit (I ordered cam #W11311687). Removed the handle with two screws on the inside front and pulled out the custom wood panel. Pulled the compactor out from under cabinet. Tipped it over on back of unit, supporting it with a little foot stool. Unscrewed two lower screws at bottom of unit holding black trim panel (that held wood panel in place) and lower black rubber flap.
