Symptoms of a bad Thermal Fuse include:

  • The oven not heating up
  • The oven shutting off unexpectedly
  • No power to the oven's heating elements
  • Error codes related to overheating or temperature control

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP9759243

The Upper Oven Thermal Fuse is an OEM part compatible with Whirlpool double wall ovens. Located near the upper oven heating element, this safety device protects the upper oven cavity from excessive heat rises. If temperatures get too high, the fuse automatically cuts power to prevent overheating.

Symptoms of a blown upper oven thermal fuse include:

  • The upper oven failing to heat or losing total heating function
  • Burning smells emanating from the upper oven cavity
  • Safety shutdown errors related to over-temperature conditions

Common causes are airflow restriction trapping heat or faulty wiring allowing overheating. Natural aging also deteriorates fuses over extended use cycles.

Compatible brands include KitchenAid, Jenn-Air and some Kenmore wall oven models.

Kitchenaid Line Fuse
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP4375321

This line fuse protects the appliance's incoming power circuit by opening if an overload or short occurs. Replacing a blown fuse can help restore power once the underlying issue is corrected, preventing further damage to sensitive components.

  • Interrupts line voltage when excessive current or a short circuit is detected
  • Typical symptoms: unit completely dead, no display or interior lights, won't start or run
  • Fuse tests open/no continuity with a multimeter when blown

Kitchenaid Fuse (Time-Delay)
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WPW10017410

This time-delay fuse protects the appliance's power circuit by opening when current exceeds a safe level while tolerating brief inrush current. Replacing a blown fuse can help restore power once the root cause is corrected. What it does:

  • Protects the line and control circuits from shorts and overloads
  • Time-delay design helps prevent nuisance opening during startup surges
  • When open, the unit will be completely dead—no display, lights, or response
  • Repeatedly opening usually indicates an unresolved electrical fault that needs diagnosis
What's included:
  • 1 time-delay fuse
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power at the breaker before servicing; some appliances can retain dangerous high voltage
  • Replace only with the same type and rating specified by the manufacturer
  • Inspect the fuse holder and wiring for heat damage or loose connections before reassembly
  • If the new fuse opens immediately, stop and diagnose the underlying cause; never bypass or upsize a fuse

  • Matches the OEM function and mounting location for lower compartment temperature control.
What's included: One thermostat. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power to the appliance before beginning any service.
  • Label or tag wires before removal and reconnect exactly to the same terminals.
