After replacing thermal fuse once and having it fail a second time, I had to dig a little deeper to uncover the problem. I checked for blockage in the vent but everything was clear. First I watched videos about squeaking Kenmore dryers. Then I used that information to open the dryer, diagnosing the fact that the roller on the drum belt tension arm had broken and actually fallen off the arm. The dryer was filled with lint and dust/dirt, so I also saw that the seals on the dryer had deteriorated greatly. AppliancePartsPros website is outstanding, far better than its competitors. Took the whole dryer apart to access the wheels (4) of them, belt and fan wheel, also had to clean all the lint out that somehow builds up inside the dryer. Plus cleaned out dryer duct vent, added to the time involved. If you are planning on fixing the dryer because of a noise which was in my case, I highly recommend buy all the parts for complete maintenance mentioned above. What helped save me time? After having replaced the drum support rollers twice in a roughly 3yr period, I realized something wasn't quite right, and indeed it wasn't. I had been ordering the wrong parts - I did use the online parts locator after checking, & double checking my model number. Ordered new seal and the correct adhesive to use and followed directions for resealing of the door. Read more

I took the dryer apart.....first had to clean out all the lint here and there. Took the drum out, inspected the belt and back support wheels. They seemed to be fine. In the front the drum turns on two supports that have a Teflon glide. Those two glides had been worn off with their pad so metal was rubbing against metal. I replaced the seals and tub bushings to bring back a quieter operation and keep from doing more damage.I have done so since it was new in 1990. It still has a lot of kife left in it. And it beats buying a new unit any day. Read more

Repair was very easy. No instructions included but basically start the new seal tabs at the bottom in the middle and work your way around snapping in place. 60 seconds Read more

Ordered a new gasket, easily installed by popping into slots, took only a minute to install, had dryer three years and never happened before, suspect sheet caught in door when started and pulled gasket off. Thought about gluing gasket , decided to just be diligent about inserting clothes etc. Read more
