Did some research via the internet and figured the problem was likely the moisture control board. Watched a video of the repair of a similar unit in order to locate the moisture control board. Used the chat feature with one of the Appliance Parts Pros to get a schematic of the dryer and advice about where to use the putty knife to release the springs for access to the board. Bought new optic control boards, both the emitter and the receiver. The repair process was so simple. The KitchenAid repair tech came out to diagnose our issue. He was only going to come back and install a new emitter. They wanted a lot of money to do the repair. They were going to charge us $257 just for the part (emitter board). Replaced the main circuit board, evaporator fan motor, and power supply. Probably did not need to change the power supply but did so just to be safe. Replaced the fan motor because I was advised it could be the cause of the circuit board failure. Got a rebuilt main circuit from Circuit Board Medic because new ones are no longer available.
