Maytag Refrigerator Temperature Control, Cold Control

• Fridge too cold
• Fridge runs too long

• Freezer section too warm

The 20 year old unit still serves us well, looks good and has been kept in good repair. The condenser fan had stopped so I removed, cleaned and oiled that motor. The decision was made to make an upgrade to the evaporator motor and control units so that the appliance could reasonably be expected to have extended service life. First I thought it was the defrost timer (talking to a friend). Replaced as $30+ dollar part and cheaper than a service call. Unfortunately, that did not help. • Fridge too cold

Easy fix in less than 10 minutes. I replaced the thermostat control. I first shorted the two wires that went to the control and let it run for 1 hour. The temperature was dropping and the freezer was freezing. Read more

My fridge was often reaching 60-70 degrees but would work well when motor/fans were running; it just wasn't cooling regularly.
