Sweet Sue for Model Number LTF6700FS

After being away for the summer, the washer gives an E41 error message. I replaced the door latch module with no improvement. In an earlier answer to someone else you said to measure the resistance of the PTC. I have a V-O-M and would gladly to it, but don't know what a PTC is. There are seven prongs on the latch module; across which two do you measure the resistance?? Also, I've heard that you can also test by jumpering across one of the plugs. Which plug?? So now I have two door latches. Before I buy the control module I'd like to be sure that it is the problem. Any further ideas? Thank you.

Hello Sweet Sue. If the door lock assembly is new, you need a new control board. E41 Control board thinks the door switch is open. In the J2 plug on the control, measure voltage from the black wire to ground with power on. 0 volts. Check the door strike. If good, replace the door switch assembly. 120 volts. Replace the control board.

Rick for Model Number ltf6700fso

The display shows the door is not locked, so of course the washer won't run. I've removed the door latch/switch and have a volt-ohmmeter, but don't know which plugs to test. Setting the V-O-M on 1 Ohm and putting the contact on every combination of pins does not give a reading on any of them. Would this indicate that the door latch module is the problem? If so, I can handle the repair, but I don't want to start buying parts without knowing for sure what is wrong.' Thanks. Rick

Rick, We'll send you the test information you need to properly diagnose and repair the door latch assembly 131763256 on your washer.

Hi Scott. Make sure the water valve inlet screens are not clogged to s down cold fill. Water valve part # 134371220. Do you see an over soaped condition that lets the units pump cavitate? If so then fill with cold water only and advance to the drain cycle over and over to get rid of excessive soap. Its nearly impossible but doable effort to remove the back and remove the pump inlet hose and make sure it is not full of debris. If the pump impeller spins loose on the shaft then replace it with part # 137221600.Throw in a few towels/ no soap / then start on a regular wash cycle. If you see suds then do as explained before. It will be advantageous to find the supplied tech sheet inside the cabinet to aid you in the diagnosis. It allows you to put the unit in a diagnostic mode which brings up fault codes and tells you which circuit needs assistance. Thank You.

Hello Lisa, The E-41 fault code means that the control board isn't getting the completed circuit required to tell the control that the door is closed. This can be a bad connection, (J-2 connector), a bad door switch 131763256, or the control 134743500 has failed. Most of these I have serviced has been a poor or intermittent connection between the door switch and the control. In about 30% of the cases, the door switch had to be replaced. In probably 5% to 10% of the cases, the control wasn't reading a proper signal being sent back to it. Of course you do need to unplug and reconnect the wiring to and from the door switch to the control to ensure a proper connection and don't forget to check the door strike. If the door isn't striking correctly it will tear up the door latch or the striker.

Hello Abe, The speed control is the electronic control board in the bottom of the unit that the motor is wired to. It is essentially the motor control board. When you "check" the connections, each connector should be removed and reconnected, one at a time of course so they don't get mixed up. If this doesn't correct the problem, the communication problem can be the machine control at the top not receiving the information correctly, or the speed control board in the bottom not sending the information correctly. The machine control at the top is the most likely board to be at fault since it can be affected more readily by a power surge.

Tom for Model Number ATF6700FS1

I have the frigidaire model ATF6700FS1 washer and the machine will not start when the start button is depressed. It shows PAU which from research some sites means Pause. The machine has been used now for about 3 years with no issues. When Start and cancel is pressed at same time, I get a E41 on the display which refers to the door lock. I checked the door lock assembly and even jumpered it out but it is still showing the PAU alarm which leads me to the control board. I checked all the wiring and everything is on tight. Are their any other tests to verify that the control board is the issue at fault. Thanks in advance for your help.

1 Answer

Tom, the E41 and the "PAU" in the display indicate an issue with the door lock assembly or control " E41 Control board thinks the door switch is open. Refer to test (7). Test 7: 1. Remove the door lock assembly and measure the resistance of the PTC. Shorted or open. Defective door lock assembly. Around 1500Ohms. Defective control board." If you tested or jumped the proper contacts on the latch, you want to look at the control board and wiring between the two components.

Shan, You'd want to check and make sure the loading door is closing and locking, there are no excess suds in the clothes or washer and that the washer drains completely before you check and replace the motor control board 134743500 Thanks and Good Luck
