Questions & Answers

For Ge Refrigerator Dispenser Switch (Part Number: OEM17065971)

Sharon, You will want to check the auger motor and see if there is power getting to the motor when the dispenser lever is pushed. If it is not then the issue would most likely be in the control board. If there is but is not turning then the issue will be with the auger motor.

Donald, If you grab the bottom of the display and pull out on it, it will mop free and there will be 4 screws behind it to remove to access the switch.

Hello Manuel, This sounds like you have a bad water valve. I'm sorry but you will have to provide the model number from the units' I.D. tag. The model number you provided is a valid model number for a Whirlpool Dryer. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

The water dispenser light is increasingly automatically defaulting to ice, sometimes in the middle of dispensing water. Now this evening for a while we couldn't switch it back to water. After about 30mins we could switch back and got water dispensing. A few minutes later the green light automatically switched back to ice again. If we select any mode we get the correct dispensing but we cannot always switch from ice to any other mode the likely cause of this issue? Regards Tony

Hello Tony. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the interface WR55X10239 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.

Water dispenser started to delay turning off when glass removed (about 1 second). This continued to be longer (about 10 seconds) but also intermittent (sometimes only 1 second and sometimes much longer delay). After a week of this symptom, the water stopped working completely and now does not dispense water at all. Should I replace the water valve or the micro switch? If I order both, can I return the part not needed for a refund? The ice maker and ice dispenser and crushed ice all still work fine. Thanks

Cindy, You will want to check the crush/cube solenoid which is located next to the auger motor to make sure that it is not stuck in the up position and that it is not damaged. This will be the most likely cause for the issue.

Kelley, You will need to check the shifter arm on the side of the ice bin to make sure its installed properly and raises and closes the dispenser flapper door in the front bottom of the dispenser bin. Then you'll need to check the shifter solenoid WR62X23154 in the housing on the back wall of the dispenser assembly. When crushed ice is chosen, the solenoid remains inactive, the auger drives the cubes into the front of the bin. The cubes are driven through the chopper blades and the partially closed flapper door and get crushed. When cubed ice is chosen the solenoid activates moves the shifter arm up and the cubes drive forward. Because the bin flapper door is held open, the cubes fall into the front assembly and drop through the chopper blades and drop out of the dispenser as full cubes. If you remove the bin, tape or hold the freezer door light switch and select the cubed ice selection, you should be able to see and hear the solenoid activate and lift up, when the paddle is pressed. If the solenoid doesn't activate, you'll need to remove the cover assembly and disconnect the wires from the solenoid and check for a closed circuit across the terminals, then check for voltage across the wires when the paddle is pressed. If the voltage is present, then the solenoid has failed, if the voltage is absent, then you'll need to check the wiring and dispenser control board.

Nancy, The dispenser actuator switch WR23X10783 is a very good possibility, but it's more likely to be a failed solenoid on the water valve WR57X33326 located on the back of the refrigerator.
