Denise January 22, 2013 for Model Number Ggw9250pto My dryer will start, but only occasionally. Once it starts it will stop after a few minutes, sometimes seconds. Most times, it won't start until after many tries. The diagnostics were ok, belt looked ok, thermal fuse, thermistor ok. I assume because it starts sometimes that it's not the motor? What could this be?
1 Answer Hello Denise. Based on the information you provided, the motor is bad and will need to be replaced. Read More...
Mark G January 21, 2013 for Model Number GEW9250PWO All lights are on and the dryer goes to sensing with timers working but unit will not start. Can this be something other than control board?
1 Answer Hello Mark, You will want to check the thermal fuse to make sure that it is good. The thermal fuse will be located in the area of the blower housing and you will want to check for continuity. If the fuse does not have continuity then you will want to replace the fuse. IF the fuse is no good then you will also want to check to make sure that your vent is not clogged. Check vent from blower all the way to the outside of home. This is the normal cause of the thermal fuse blowing. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Steve January 21, 2013 for Model Number 110.84832201 Dryer does nothing...no lights no response, no codes, no noises. Have checked power supply which is ok. Are we looking a control board? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Steve, You will want to check L1 to Neutral for 120vac. If you have power between terminals then you would need to replace control board. WP8546219. Read More...
George December 17, 2012 for Model Number kenmore elite 110-92824101 Won't start, just makes a huming sound. Help!
1 Answer Hello George. Try turning the drum by hand while pressing the button and it is humming and see if it starts and runs. If so, you will need to order and replace the motor 279787 in the unit. Read More...
Kathleen December 15, 2012 for Model Number 110.8586.1400 Electric Dryer doesn't seem to be getting any current. Front panel doesn't light up, and there is no current to the lightbulb inside the dryer (bulb works when I put it in the chandelier). Circuit breaker is fine and my husband tested the wall outlet for current. (At one point today, you could see 2 blurred, faint lines of light in the timer window, and one small light glowed dimly on front panel.) My husband did Test #1 (Supply Connections) on tech sheet, which eventually lead us to the Machine Control Electronics. The tech sheet says to replace this circuit board. My records indicate that this circuit board was replaced 6-14-12. Could it be something else?
1 Answer Hello Kathleen, If you have 120vac going to Connector P1 between pins 5 and 2 but you do not have anything anywhere else then you would need to replace control board. Read More...
Denise November 30, 2012 for Model Number GGW9250PLO when changing the machine control electronics board. we are hooking up the wires to the heater relay. on the diagram its shows N.O. and COM. which one does the red wire hook to and which one does the black wire hook to?
Randy November 21, 2012 for Model Number GGW9260PLO My Whirlpool duet gas dryer won't start. I can push control on and push start and it will just click. I thought I had a bad motor by checking the winding so I replaced it but still no go!! HELP
1 Answer Randy, when you replaced the motor, did you also check the idler belt switch 279782 and wires for a proper circuit and operation Or a "closed" circuit across the thermal fuse WP3392519 terminals ? Idf the switch is "open" with the belt installed or the thermal fuse is "open" the motor wont start or run. Read More...
Michelle November 02, 2012 for Model Number GEW9250PW0 My dryer will not dry a load unless we push start about 20 times. it starts at 40 minutes and then counts down to 32 and then skips and goes down to 23 and counts down to 21 and then shuts down and says cycle complete. any idea what needs to be replaced?
1 Answer Hello Michelle. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the control board WP8558756 is bad and will need to be replaced in the unit. Read More...
Micahel T October 28, 2012 for Model Number GGW9200LW0 The automatic cycle does not stop when the cloths are dry. Moisture sensor seems inoperative. I have: 1st - done the diagnostic test for the sensor and get 03 (but no beep) when I put it in test mode, open the door, and put my wet finger across the two metal strips; 2nd - measured "open" resistance across the outer two pins of the moisture sensor cable with the two MOVs (cable unpluged); and 3rd - measured low reisitance across the outer two pins of the mating connector on the digital cable (disconnected from mating connector but still connected to plug on mother board), directions say to replace cable; 4th - removed the digital cable from the mother board and tested the cable's two pins as open and tested the two moisture sensor pins on the mother board as low resistance (hence cable is good). Does this confirm that the mother board is bad? Is there a replaceable component on the board? The dryer works fine aside from this feature. Thank you.
1 Answer Michael, Something else to check, First reconnect everything and make sure there is no debris or chemical build up on the sensor bar strips. Disconnect the sensor wire harness from the P2 connector on the control board and check for a resistance reading between each wire (P2pin1 and P2pin2) terminal and chassis ground. There should be no resistance(infinite resistance), if there is you've got a shorted sensor harness wire and will need to trace it out. Next check and make sure the thermistor resistance (10,000 ohms resistance) is proper at room temperature. If all checks are OK, then replace the control board WP8546219 Read More...
James October 16, 2012 for Model Number Kenmore 110.82824101 The dryer stopped working and it smelled like something burned. Pressing a cycle and start the drum rotates once and stops, you can hear the motor relay clicking. I replaced the motor relay (T9AS1012-12) and the dryer started and ran a empty for a half hour w/o heat. Tested with small load of cloths and it stopped again same problem. Do have the burnt smell around the control board. Door switch, thermal fuse, and thermal cutoff and heater all check out with ohm meter OK. Drive motor reads 1.8 ohms on both main winding and start winding (manual says should be 2.4 to 3.6 ohms). It is 2 ohms at the connector to the motor control board. I can rotate the motor using the blower wheel. It does seem like it is harder to rotate the drum manually. Recommendations?
1 Answer Hello James. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the motor is bad on the unit and needs to be replaced. It sounds like the motor is getting hot and shutting down. Read More...
