Brian January 07, 2013 for Model Number Kenmore 665.16599201 My dishwasher has a burned-out heating element that looks identical to part W10134009. I have a stainless steel tub. It looks like the new part 8194200 has a circuit board as well. Can you tell me the purpose of the circuit board? I see earlier in the Q/A that you indicate the dishwasher is more efficient with the new element + circuit board. Is the circuit board needed for safety reasons, or is it just needed because the new heating element is a different shape and requires different power input?
1 Answer Hello Brian! Yes, the heating element kit 8194200 is the correct replacement for your model 665.16599201. The board is needed to run the heating element, due to a change the manufacturer has made. Thanks! Read More...

Bob November 27, 2012 for Model Number Whirlpool GU2400XTPS1 I am looking at ordering a new heating element for my Whirlpool Dishwasher - Model #GU2400XTPS1. When I call for the replacement element everybody has told me that it is "C" shaped. But when I look at the element in the dishwasher it looks like the heating element from the Heater Element# 8194200. Will the "C" element work even though it doesn't look like the part in the dishwasher?
1 Answer Hi Bob, if you have a plastic tub, use W10518394. If your tub is stainless, you need 8194200. Hope this helps! Read More...
Jim October 16, 2012 for Model Number KUDP01DLBL2 My water is not heating up in dishwasher and there is a small gouge in element. Is the element bad or is there a fuse that may be bad that I can replace? When cycle is done the sanitized light flashes and have tried resetting this to no avail. Thanks Jim!
1 Answer Hello Jim. Test the element. It should read closed for continuity. If it is open, you will need to replace the element 8194200. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Vt October 14, 2012 for Model Number kudp01flss1 The dishwasher would not run and I replaced the ribbon cable, user interface and control board and that solved the problem. Dishwasher operated ok for several weeks. Lately the dishwasher will run the first wash cycle and drain and stop with flashing green light 7 times. I can reset the dishwasher restart and it will run wash and drain again and stop with flashing light 7 times. It will run rinse only with no problem. Please advise!
1 Answer VT, Usually the LED flashing seven times, indicate an issue in the water heating circuit. Most often, this is due to a low water temperature (the water in the bottom of the tub after the first fill cycle, needs to be at least 120 dgrs.F.) The control has a limited amount of time to heat and increase the water temp. to 140 dgrs.F. You also want to test and make sure there is a resistance reading across the heater element terminals, and the limit thermostat, for a "closed" circuit at room temperature, and the thermistor should read 48 to 52 ohms resistance across the yellow/black and white wires at room temp. as well. But check the water temp. in the tub first, the hotter the water, the better the dishwasher works. Read More...
Cb October 11, 2012 for Model Number kwds01djss0 kitchen aid dishwasher I ordered the heating element kit and installed both pieces effectively...so it seemed. Upon powering up the dishwasher the LED readout does not show proper characters anymore. I only get two dashes on bottom and two dashes to the very right. The led readout worked properly prior to the installation of the heating element kit. Please let me know if there is something I did wrong or the resolution to the problem...Thank you for your assistance
1 Answer CB, It sounds like the door switches or wiring may be at fault "WON’T START AND TWO DASHES APPEAR IN DISPLAY - Door switch not making contact: ¦ Faulty door latch assembly. ¦ Faulty door switch. - Loose connections between door switches and pin 8 on control. - Control not receiving Start key (or cycle key, if model has no Start key)." Also check and clean the insertion end of the keypad ribbon with rubbing alcohol, and make sure the ribbon is inserted properly and tightly into the connector on the new control board. Read More...
Greg M August 03, 2012 for Model Number KUDS01DLWH2 We have had some difficulty with our diswasher. Could not change cycles and had an error that requested us to reset the diswasher. So we replaced the control panel. We were able to reset the system. But would not run a full cycle. Error code was it flashed 7 times. upon further inspection we looked at the control board and noted scorched components from a short. Ordered the panel. Installed. The system did not require a reset and started a normal cycle. 6 minutes of running and then started its 59 minute cycle. in the 48th minute it shut down and went to 2 for a drain cycle. Googling this would indicate it did not maintain temperature. is this a heater element that needs to be replaced? Temp sensor? Or.... Oh and can I remove these from inside without pulling the unit out? Remodel and tile do not allow acces to pulling it out without removing the tile. :(
1 Answer Hello Greg. Sorry, but it will need to be pulled out to test the heater and the thermal cut out if you can not reach from the bottom after removing the toe panel. Both parts should test closed for continuity if they are good. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Ad July 22, 2012 for Model Number kuds01flss5 Your responses to question have been a great help to trouble shoot. The tan main power feed burnt a hole right through the control board. I checked all my ohms for pumps and valves and it appears I have a bad heater (10 ohms). I will get the new heater kit with a new board. Should I replace the fuse? In another question you said no, but I must of been pulling 14+ amps on the heater and the fuse did not blow. What is the rating for that fuse?
1 Answer Hello AD. Sorry, but the manufacture does not offer that information on the fuse 8193762. You will need to contact the manufacture for that information. Read More...
