Walter January 05, 2020 for Model Number LGR6646PW1 No heat in dryer replaced thermostat and ignitor what else could it be?
1 Answer Walter, if the ignitor is cycling on and off but does not ignite, there is likely a valve WP8318277 issue. If the ignitor does not glow at all, the cycling thermostat WP3387134, the thermal fuse WP3392519, the thermal cutoff and the hi-limit thermostat (thermal cutoff and hi-limit come in a kit) W11050897 will need to be tested for continuity (with the unit unplugged from the outlet). If any of these do not test good for continuity, it will need to be replaced. The gas coils 279834 would need to be tested for resistance. The two prong coil should measure 1220O of resistance, the three prong will measure 1365O from terminal 1 to 2, and 560 from 1 to 3. If everything tests good, the unit will need to be put back together and the timer will need to be tested for voltage while running at terminal R for 120VAC. If there is not 120VAC, the timer WP8299766 would need to be replaced (temperature selection on high when testing). If there is 120VAC, then the gas valve would need to be replaced. Read More...
Howard April 09, 2019 for Model Number GGW9200LQ1 Is there a ohm test I could use to check the operation of the flame sensor currently connected to an ohm meter I have 0 ohms
1 Answer Howard, the flame sensor will not have a resistance reading because it is like an automatically resetting thermal fuse. When the ignitor reaches a certain temperature, the flame sensor opens up causing the voltage to go completely through the coils, and when the flame sensor no longer has heat applied, it closes again. The flame sensor should read continuity when in the normal state at room temperature. Read More...
Ruben November 18, 2018 for Model Number MDG5500AWQ Do you need to have damp clothes in the dryer in order to test if the flame comes on? It seems that the flame comes on with sensor but not with the time mode. When the igniter comes on the flame will light, but the igniter is not always coming on. Your help would be appreciated, by the way I replaced the gas valve solenoids.
1 Answer Ruben, For this issue the most likely issue will be a control board that would be faulty. Read More...
Mike November 18, 2018 for Model Number Whirlpool thin twin lt5100xvw0 Fire won't stay on. I can see a glow start, but no flame ignites. And then the glow goes away...
1 Answer Mike, For this issue the most likely cause will be a faulty dryer gas coils 279834. Read More...
Jeremy August 26, 2018 for Model Number Kenmore 11872602101 When the gas dryer is off the igniter comes on when we turn it on the igniter goes off is this a timer issue
1 Answer Jeremy, the flame sensor should read closed when the dryer is off, it reads open when the igniter is on and reaches a high temperature. Read More...
Gary July 10, 2018 for Model Number LGR4634EQ1 Our dryer is working just fine the dryer is tumbling and the timer is just fine but we have no heat at all. any information will be helpful. Im quite handy at fixing things also
1 Answer Gary, You will want to check to see if the igniter is coming on. If the igniter is coming on then check the gas coils on the unit. You can test the coils using a multi-meter. The two prong coil will read 1,000-1,300 ohms, and the three prong coil will read 1,300-1,400 ohms across prongs 1&2, and 500-600 ohms across prongs 1&3. If the igniter is not coming on then check the thermostats on the unit for continuity and check to make sure that there is 120 vac to the igniter. Also check for continuity on the flame sensor. Lew February 11, 2018 for Model Number GGW9200LL1 Dryer has low heat regardless of the temperature I select. Using the hints and suggested causes of my problem from the website and other postings on your site, I have replaced the: valve coils, the thermistor and the high temp thermostat. The thermal fuse is good (has continuity) and the ignitor glows brightly with every call for heat cycle. My cycle: the ignitor glows, the gas valve opens but only burns for 5 seconds, I hear a click and the flame shuts off for a few minutes then the burn cycle starts again - but never more than 5 seconds at a time, The dryer barely gets lukewarm and it takes forever to dry a load. Appliance Parts Pros was kind enough to send me a "service manual" ( Whirlpool's service manual leave a lot to be desired - no fault of Appliance Parts Pros) and I ran the suggested diagnostics, resulting in an error code 3 - indicating a defective Machine Control Board. Ordered the $$$ board and it arrived yesterday with a broken seal on the static bag causing me some concern that this was a re-pack but I installed the board anyway and this time no error code 3. Unfortunately my low heat problem continues (regardless of my temp selection on the control panel) the burn cycles on (again) for no longer than 5 seconds at a time then minutes later cycles on again for 5 seconds. The dryer never gets beyond a lukewarm temp. HELP !! One more thing when running diagnostics, the moisture sensor tests said I should get an "03" in the display if all is good, I get a "09"..but no explanation in the "service manual" as to what an "09" is or what I should do about it. I checked the harness and no shorts or opens were detected. I really don't want to have the expense of a service call on top of what I've already replaced, your guidance will be greatly appreciated.
1 Answer Lew, You will want to clean the sensor bars with rubbing alcohol and see if this will correct the issue. Also check the venting on the unit from the blower wheel to the outside of the home as this could be causing the issue. Read More...
Joe P December 03, 2017 for Model Number WGD9200SQ1 So, I suspect the flame sensor is bad, but I have continuity when tested with a meter. Should there be any resistance on the flame sensor when completely removed from the dryer, and the sensor is at room temperature? It is measuring at 1.0 ohms.
1 Answer Joe, The flame sensor should have continuity when it is tested at room temp and when the igniter reaches proper temp then the sensor will open. Read More...
Rex Curtis November 04, 2017 for Model Number MODEL_mdg5500aww Dryer runs, heaters comes on then quits after a few minutes. What do I need?
1 Answer Rex, This issue would most likely be caused by faulty gas coils which are part number 279834. Read More...
Rick E April 01, 2017 Hi I noticed there are a few different model numbers for gas flame sensors the question is do they all work the same not talking about the mounting brackets but there are whirlpool models GE models and others they show different prices but what is the difference
1 Answer Rick, Yes the flame sensors will work the same but may mount differently. The manufacturer is the one that would set the retail pricing according to what they want. Read More...
