Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Replacement Icemaker (Part Number: OEM12405033)

Bob, Your best bet is to replace the complete icemaker assembly D7824706Q. Besides,, the ice cube mold is not available as a separate component, for your fridge. There are no replacement coating or chemicals to apply to the existing mold. Water dripping into the ice bin, could be due to the faulty icemaker, or a dripping fill valve 61005626, you may solve both your issues, when you replace the icemaker. Thanks

Hi Al. In my professional opinion, if you can then it is probably better to replace the whole ice maker assy. The water minerals will collect over time making it harder for the ice to eject the cubes. In the head assy, there are copper contacts that pit over time and wire terminals that corrode. The choice is yours as the head assy. part # W10190935 does send the 6-sec. voltage to the water valve solenoid to send fill water. Ice maker assy. Part # 4317943. Thank You.

Hello Rosa. If the wheel is off on the icemaker, it should only go back on one way, with the red line facing toward the bottom at the 5' O'clock position. If the wheel does not, you will need to replace the icemaker 4317943. Hope this helps.

Hi J. P. Set the volt/ohm meter at the water valve solenoid terminal of the green valve. You position the meter part # WB27T10549 off to the side so you can see the face of the meter as you cycle the ice maker part # D7824706Q. Use a insulated piece of # 14 solid gauge wire approx. 6-inches long. Strip off 3/8" from each end. Bend for a u-shape. Remove the front ice maker front cover. Remove the ice bin. Make sure the ejector blades are not jammed cross ways and stopping production. (cube jammed ? ). Then insert the wire into the "T" and "H" front face openings. There will either be a red, black or blue stripe on the outer edge of the large gear. This mark should normally rest at the 5:00 position. When it moves to the 8:00 position, remove the wire and let it continue to advance. When the dial mark reaches approx 3 - 4:00 it will energise the water valve for approx. 6-seconds and allow the water valve to send water up to the ice maker. You may need to do this w/ the jumper wire a couple of times in order to see the voltage on the digital screen of the meter. Check w/ a screwdriver to see if the old water valve leaked and back froze the fill tube and not allowing the water to enter the ice maker . Usually this will pop off the 1/4" water line and staked on clamp assy. Part # WP488878. If the fill tube is frozen you can slightly twist it and remove it from the back of the unit. Rinse out from the sink and dry it really good. If you do not get dial movement from the ice maker or do not have 120 vac at the "L" and "N" of the front of the ice maker then you need to replace it. Part # D7824706Q. For wire harness(Plug)order WPD7813010. Thank You.

Hello Kelly. It would be best to remove the icemaker D7824706Q from the freezer and clean it. If you remove the screw on the bottom and loosen the two screws at the top, you can lift out the icemaker and unplug the wires and clean it with hot water and detergent in the sink. Just don't get the electricals wet under the water. Hope this helps.

Hi Jerry. We need to get your complete model # from the model # and serial tag inside the controls area. There is a regular ice maker kit that has 3- screws. It is part # 4317943. There will be 2- top side screws that loosen (or you can remove them altogether). Remove the elect. connector at the back upper corner of the freezer. Remove the lower bolt in the front side wall. Then you will use the exact match-up of the wirer harness and replace the ice maker. Use a torpedo level to insure proper installation for cubes to fill from to back correctly. Then remember to put the bail arm down. When the ice maker reaches 14° or lower it will automatically call for water . Thank You.

Fdc for Model Number Refrigerator Model# MFF2557HEW

I have a Maytag refrigerator (Model: MFF2557HEW) that's about 8 years old and the ice maker stopped working so I put a jumper wire in the "L" & "V" holes and it still did not call for water. Next, I tried jumping the "H" & "T" holes but still no luck so I purchased and installed a new water valve and it still does not call for water. Is this confirmation that the ice unit is "KAPUT" and I need a new one or what else can I do to test the unit? Note: all lines are free of ice! Please advise...Thanks
